A FANTASTIC TEAM EFFORT
A big well done to our primary and secondary students! 👏 Thanks to your generous donations, we collected a fantastic amount of food for The Millennium Chapel. The food was collected today, and it was a proud moment for our girls.
We extend our sincere thanks to all staff members, families and students who supported this initiative!

Today our Primary Sector celebrated a very special Saint! Saint Nicholas! A kind and generous Saint! The girls had the opportunity to meet him and ask him questions! A lovely activity organised by the Pastoral team of OLIS Primary. Special thanks to them and Fr Chris who has gladly accepted to be St Nicholas for the day! 😊❤️

✨ Advent at Our School: Lighting the First Candle of Hope ✨

Today our school community gathered in the courtyard to mark the beginning of Advent, a season that invites us to slow down, prepare our hearts, and welcome Christ’s coming with renewed faith. In true Franciscan spirit, rooted in simplicity, humility, and joy, we came together as one family to light the first candle of the Advent wreath: the Candle of Hope.

The Advent wreath, with its evergreen branches and growing light, reminds us that even in moments of uncertainty, Christ is our unfailing hope. As St Francis taught, hope is lived through small acts of kindness, peace, and compassion. It is nurtured in community, in prayer, and in the quiet trust that God is always at work in our lives.

Our students led us beautifully in reflection and prayer, reminding us that hope begins with each one of us: a gentle word, an open heart, a helping hand.

As we continue this journey through Advent, may the light of hope burn brightly in our school, our families, and our world. 🌟

Come, Lord Jesus.
Fill us with Your hope.

Congratulations to Julia Spiteri, Emma Camilleri, and Nicole Gauci, who proudly represented our school in the 12th Malta Junior Science Olympiad! 🌟🔬 Their dedication and curiosity in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics reflect the true spirit of scientific inquiry. Opportunities like the MJSO allow students to deepen their understanding of the sciences, apply their knowledge in real-world problem-solving, and ignite a lifelong passion for discovery. Well done to our young scientists for embracing this challenge and shining so brightly, and to the teachers of our Science Department, who guided the students throughout these months. 👩‍🔬✨

SDP day Secondary

Yesterday all secondary educators participated in a staff development day. The day consisted of a look at our achievements of the past three years. This was followed by a seminar conducted by Nabrouska Cassar, an educational psychologist and psychotherapist, on the well being of educators. Ms Cassar dealt with the subject of stress, how we can recognise when we are feeling stressed and how we can combat stress. She also spoke about the importance of communication and community support.

SDP day Primary Educators

Yesterday, Our Lady Immaculate School hosted educators from various Church schools for an inspiring workshop led by guest speaker Adrian Bethune. This session formed part of an Erasmus project, the session Wellbeing in Primary Schools: Nurturing Educators and Learners, organised by the Church School Children's Fund and the Secretariat for Catholic Education. It was a meaningful opportunity to learn, reflect, and continue strengthening wellbeing within our school communities.

More wonderful achievements for OLIS and our students! A huge well done to all the girls who took part in Brillantini Tal-Qari 2024–2025. Thanks to their enthusiasm and dedication, OLIS proudly placed second as a school.

During the event, Krista Valentina Frendo Cumbo (Year 2) read her original story, Arissa Bezzina (Year 6) presented an original poem, and Julia Xuereb (Year8) performed a piece from Swan Lake. In addition, three more students—Daya Vella (Year8) Emma Sultana Peregin, and Elisa Caruana Ciantar (both Year 9)—received the Brillantini Tal-Qari award.

A heartfelt thank you to all our educators who continue to foster literacy and inspire a love for reading, and to all parents for supporting your daughters in these initiatives. Above all, well done to all our Brillantini Tal-Qari—keep shining! 🤩

This coming week, at OLIS, we will be having Anti-Bullying Week, with this year's empowering theme: 'Power for Good'!

This theme is all about recognising the influence all of us - students, staff, and families - have to create a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment. It is a powerful reminder to use our voices and actions to help others and stand up against bullying.

How to Use Your 'Power for Good' at Home:

Open the Conversation: Ask your child what 'Power for Good' means to them and how they and their friends are using it in school this week.

Encourage Empathy: Reinforce the importance of kindness, inclusion, and reaching out to support friends who might be having a tough time.

Stay Connected: Remind your child they should always talk to a trusted adult (you, a teacher, a staff member) if they witness or experience bullying.

Let us work together to empower every student to be a force for positivity. Let's make a difference together!
