Yr2.5 Ms Johana: As part of our Dinja Waħda experience, the class engaged in a creative “Diary of…” activity. The process started with reading various texts about plants and insects, helping students connect with the topic. They then ventured outdoors to places like San Klement and the school grounds, where they explored nature and chose an organism to focus on. Each student imagined what a typical day might be like for their selected plant or animal and expressed this through a diary-style narrative. Their spoken entries were recorded by the teacher, and these can be heard in the PowerPoint linked to this post.

Yr 2.4 Ms Rita: The class participated in the “Diary of…” activity as part of Dinja Waħda. They began by reading stories about insects and plants to build their understanding and spark ideas. Following this, the students explored natural environments such as San Klement and the school yard, where they observed and selected a plant or insect that interested them. Using their imagination, they created a diary describing a day in the life of their chosen living thing. The students then shared their ideas orally, and the teacher recorded their spoken diaries. You can listen to these recordings in the PowerPoint attached to this post.

K2.5 Ms Ritianne: Our class enjoyed a wonderful visit from two beekeepers from Honey and More Golden Island Ltd 🐝🍯

The children took part in a fun, interactive and engaging session where they explored a real beehive, learned about pollination, tasted honey, and even tried on a beekeeper suit!

To end the experience, the children took part in a hands-on candle making activity using beeswax. They used the warmth of their hands and breath to soften the beeswax sheets before carefully rolling and shaping them into candles.

We extend our gratitude to our handymen for restoring the Secret Garden fence. Their hard work has not only repaired what was worn but has brought new life, colour, and charm to a space we all cherish.
