St Clare College Dun Anton Manchè Gżira Primary School

As part of the transition process, the children from K2.1, K2.2 and K2.3 visited the Year 1 classes. They met the Year 1 teachers and pupils, explored the classroom environment, and took part in a range of engaging activities. The visit helped them become familiar with Year 1 and supported a smooth and positive transition to the next scholastic year.

L-Aġenzija Nazzjonali tal-Litteriżmu organizzat ir-raba’ edizzjoni tal-Festival Nazzjonali tal-Irrakkontar tal-Istejjer mill-Erbgħa 20 sal-Ġimgħa 22 ta’ Mejju 2026. Fil-festival kien hemm total ta’ 178 student/a, minn 57 klassi differenti, li rrakkontaw storja lil udjenza magħmula minn studenti, edukaturi u membri tal-ġurija. Nixtiequ nirringrazzjaw lil dawk kollha li wrew tant ħeġġa f’dan il-festival tal-irrakkontar tal-istejjer, filwaqt li nifirħu lir-rebbieħa.

Footballers Read & Write is a literacy programme organised by the National Literacy Agency across primary schools. Eleven pupils from our school satisfied the criteria and followed this programme. Each week these students took part in a reading session, followed by a football session under the guidance of a professional coach. Today the sessions came to a successful end...thanks to all involved and we done children !

Earlier in May parents of pupils in Kindergarten were invited to attend an Open Day. The yard was buzzing with activities which included story-telling, music, movement...and also some new Maltese vocabulary. It was a pleasant occasion where educators, parents and children were all together as one big happy family.

Today, we celebrated a very special milestone in the lives of our children who received their Holy Communion. 🌟🙏

It was a joyful occasion filled with happiness, pride, and reflection as we recognised this important step in their faith journey. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them God's blessings, love, and guidance always. Congratulations to all.

Year 2s

This week, we started our new topic, Cats and Rabbits, with a special focus on cats.

The children enjoyed a variety of cat themed activities, including different cat painting projects. We read the story “Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons” and explored counting activities using buttons, as well as a tuff tray activity inspired by the book.

We also played an interactive game about how to take care of a cat and had lots of fun in the resting room, where the children crawled like cats and played with a yarn ball.

We introduced the Maltese letter ġ through Ġonġol and learned about number 9, linking it to the idea of a cat’s nine lives.

To end the week, we had a lovely outing to Zgamardi, which the children thoroughly enjoyed!

Our runners-up who took part in the High 5 Maths Challenge joined forces with other students from the college and enjoyed an engsging maths activity at Rabat. There we had the opportunity to learn about catacombs and local heritage, solve mathematical problems...and most of all have fun together. Thanks to Mr. Attard (principal), Ms Grima (education officer) and Ms Magro ( head of department) for organising this experience.

Cindirella Story was narrated during assembly. AS a follow up activity students had to put The story in order according to the pictures found in the tuff tray.
