✨ Exploring the Universe, One Workshop at a Time! ✨
Last week, we kicked off an inspiring journey into the cosmos with our Astronomy for Education Trainer Training Workshop, held in collaboration with The Astronomical Society of Malta, the University of Malta, and Directorate for STEM and VET Programmes 🚀
From hands-on activities to big‑picture cosmic thinking, our trainers immersed themselves in innovative ways to bring astronomy into Malta’s classrooms. Together, we explored how to turn curiosity into discovery, because when teachers feel inspired, students feel it too. ✨
This workshop marks an exciting milestone as we gear up for the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) Teacher Training Program (TTP) in the CPD program for Science Teachers in Malta on the 30th April 2026.
We’re thrilled to continue building a community of teachers who spark wonder, encourage exploration, and make science accessible for everyone. 💫
Here’s to more learning, sharing, and stargazing moments ahead!
Stay curious, stay inspired.

Welcoming Spring with a lovely observation event ✨🔭
Following two rather cloudy and relatively stormy months that kicked off 2026, NAEC members were present and collaborated with The Astronomical Society of Malta in hosting its first observation event of the year at Dingli Cliffs.
Taking place on the spring equinox, this observation resonated with the spirit of Equalday, a global initiative that uses astronomy to promote equality, peace, and unity.
Under the same sky, we are reminded that despite our differences, we all share the same universe and the same sense of wonder when we look up at the stars.
As day and night stand in balance, Equal Day symbolizes harmony, a powerful reminder that unity and understanding are always within reach. ✨

A reminder for those of you planning for the Perseid meteor shower that peaks on the night of August 12–13, just over a week away. 🌖☄
The bright moonlight this year will make spotting this year's meteors practically impossible. However, you might still see a few, especially after 11p.m. in darker areas.🌌

Miskin Pluto! 🚀🌑
On 12 May, as Malta’s National Astronomy Education Coordinator (NAEC), we brought the wonders of the universe to life with a hands-on astronomy workshop at San Anton Primary School, in collaboration with The Astronomical Society of Malta - l-Għaqda Maltija tal-Astronomija and the Road-STEAMer Horizon Project team at the University of Malta.
Titled "Miskin Pluto!", the 40-minute session is part of an exciting Horizon Europe-funded initiative aimed at making science more creative and engaging for young learners.
During the workshop, 115 bright and curious students explored the solar system, met Pluto the AI character, imagined and designed their own planets, and discovered why Pluto feels so sad. 😪✨
They also observed the sun with a solar telescope and took photos of it.🌞
By blending storytelling, science, and technology, the Road-STEAMer team is helping to ignite a passion for space and inspire Malta’s future scientists and innovators.

🌎✨ On March 20th, the Earth experienced a perfect balance between day and night during the Equinox—a powerful symbol of equity.
Just as nature embraces balance, we must strive for a world where fairness, inclusion, and human rights shine equally for all.
As part of this global movement, The Astronomical Society of Malta - l-Għaqda Maltija tal-Astronomija and the Road-STEAMer Project participated in one of the 134 simultaneous events held worldwide, at St Clare College Dun Anton Manchè Gżira Primary School, where they organised the Equal Day event.
The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the Earth's rotation and the day-night cycle, encourage scientific and critical thinking, and help them explore our solar system.
Together, we celebrate knowledge, unity, and equity!☀️🌙
