A Forest for people who keep doing the same ridiculous things.

𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞. He’s looked at it. Considered it. Decided it can wait. No advice here. No big turning point everyone talks about. Mostly just sitting. Thinking about changing things. Not doing that. Still here. Surprisingly consistent.

At least that was the plan.

I made a coffee.
I gathered the paperwork.
I took it all very seriously.

Then I lay down for what was supposed to be 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬.

Turns out the paperwork is surprisingly supportive once you stop expecting it to be useful. 😂

I haven’t filled in a single thing.

But I have managed to keep everything together in one place, which feels like 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Nothing has gone wrong today.

Nobody’s angry.
Nobody needs anything.
Nothing’s on fire.

Which, quite frankly, is 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬.

I’ve spent the last hour sitting here waiting for something to go wrong.

Nothing.

Even Kevin is behaving himself.

I’ve thought about this very carefully.

I’ve had the coffee.
I’ve looked at the signs.
I’ve reviewed the situation from several highly professional angles.

And I’m now confident I know exactly where I am.

Unfortunately…

it appears to be 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞. 😂

I’m just trying to work out whether this counts as getting lost…

𝐈’𝐦 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭.

I don’t need much.

Just a coffee, a bit of peace, and apparently a full-body hug from a giraffe. 😂

For a few seconds, everything goes quiet.

No overthinking.
No fixing.
No pretending I’ve got everything under control when I very clearly do not.

So good, in fact, I’ve been carrying everyone’s expectations around the Forest since breakfast.

Nobody actually gave me any.

I just imagined what they might want, packed it all into a bloody enormous bag and decided it was my responsibility. 😂

𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐞.

Hedgie suggested I put the bag down.

Which, to be fair, sounds sensible.

Except now I’m worried he’ll think I can’t handle responsibility.

I’ve spent three hours trying to open a gate.

I’ve got 47 keys.

One for confidence.
One for motivation.
One for finally feeling ready.

Kevin even put on a hat and declared himself a professional locksmith.

𝐖𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐤𝐞𝐲. 😂

Then Hedgie walked over.

Pushed the gate.

And it opened.

𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝.

Apparently, it never was.

I’ve now been standing in the doorway for twenty minutes.

The gate’s open.
The path’s clear.
Absolutely nothing is stopping me.

I decided it was time to leave the Forest and explore the world.

New places.
New people.
New experiences.

I even tried some new food.

Some of it actually stayed inside me. 😂

But after all that travelling, I made a rather important discovery.

𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐚.

So I’m back.

Same Forest.
Same ridiculous family.
Same seven coffees.

𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞. 🐢☕😂

I’ve already started planning my next adventure.
