About Me

I am Alison Grima a qualified Art teacher who has been teaching art for the past 13 years in various church schools such as Mater Boni Consilii primary School, St. I have attended various specialised art courses amongst which a Fine Art Printmaking course at the School of Art, Valletta in which I obtained a post-graduate Diploma, an Art History Intensive Course at the Freie Universitat,

Berlin and master classes in Expanded Drawing at Akademie Der Kunste, Salzburg. Throughout the years I participated in the following collective art exhibitions:
• Polarities collective art exhibition (2001)
• Looking Ahead collective art exhibition (2002)
• Out of Print collective art exhibition (2007)
• Exhibition by the Teachers of Art (2015)

I also participated in the following art study visits:
• Rome & Florence (1999)
• Madrid, Toledo & Avila (2000)
• Naples (2001)
• Dublin (2003)
• Berlin (2004)


About the lessons

My goal is to pass on my love of art and creativity to my students. I first and foremost want my students to enjoy the process of creating art, experiment with different techniques and media as well as learn the elements and principles of art. I want the student to feel confident in what they do, this is why classes are kept small so that each child gets individual attention. I also put a lot of emphasis on the history of art. Learning about various artists both local and foreign is an integral part of the lessons. Observing and discussing well known artists works and techniques and finally using what they learn as inspiration or as a stepping stone for their own work.

If you live in Malta, but are not born here, and have an interest in improving your photographic skills, whether you are an amateur or whether you are already into photography, don’t miss the next Rima Photo Workshop from 6th to 11th March 2017!

You will have the opportunity to refine your abilities while listening to the experience of three great photographers and their varied and passionate approach to the art of photography.
The digital photography workshop will be led by the photographers Mario Badagliacca (www.mariobadagliacca.com) and Mohamed Keita (www.mohamedkeita.it), while the film photography workshop will take place under the supervision of the photographer Zvezdan Reljic.

Both workshops will be held at the Ede Books Studio, Sliema.

The National Museum of Fine Arts in South Street will be closing its doors for one last time on October 2 after 42 years.
It will eventually be replaced by MUZA, the new national community art museum, which shall open at the Auberge d'Italie in 2018 when Valletta will be declared European Capital...
