Another Christmas is here, and the Boys' Learning Support Centre - Hamrun couldn’t let the season pass without carrying out our annual tradition of distributing animal food to local animal sanctuaries.

We would like to give a big shout-out to the companies that supported us along the way:

Without their generosity, we would not have been able to collect such volumes.

We would also like to applaud our boys for their commitment to the BCRS system and for giving their best in continuing to participate in community work projects.

We are very pleased to have achieved First Place in the King’s Trust International Project Award (KTI) with our project titled “Giving is a Privilege.” We would like to thank everyone who supported our cause, as well as our students for their dedication and hard work.

In recent years, the Boys Learning Support Centre in Ħamrun has taken part in several community-based projects. One of these projects uses the BCRS system to collect empty plastic bottles and exchange vouchers for animal food, which is then donated to various animal shelters.

Through such initiatives, our students learn about their community, develop teamwork skills, and enhance their emotional awareness. By working together toward a shared goal, they strengthen their communication, problem-solving, and social responsibility. Supporting animal shelters helps them practice empathy and understand the impact of their actions. Overall, this experience promotes both personal growth and compassion.

At the Hamrun Boys’ Learning Support Centre, we take great pride in our community projects.

We consider the centre our second home, and for this reason our students are proud to take care of every aspect of it. Their goal is always to leave the space safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable than it was when they arrived.

These conservation and embellishment projects form an important part of the students’ daily learning experience. They help nurture a sense of belonging and teamwork, while also giving students the opportunity to put into practice, in real-life situations, the skills they learn during their lessons.

A few days ago at the Hamrun Boys Learning Support Centre we held the first ever Student School Council Elections. This was a very interesting exercise where our students understood the processes of democratic election.

We also now have a democratically elected student council led by Calvin Reitano Gilford and elected students Ahmed Ibderi and Mikhail Debono.

The aim of the student council is to make sure the students are involved as much as possible in the school community. It is also a way for students to understand that they have responsibilities to carry as well as their rights to stand up for.

Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting !

As part of our Christmas activities our students presented hampers to St.Joanne Antide Foundation, Dar Bla Hitan and Dar Merhba Bik Foundation.

This hampers were filled with basic necessities collected by the students during the Hamrun BLSC Celebration Day 2023.
