CESL Asia Kid’s Drawing Contest Awards Ceremony

Celebrating Our Young Artist, Ruby! 🎨✨

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our student, Ruby, for her wonderful participation in the CESL Asia Social Investment Initiative: Kid’s Drawing Contest – “Garden Our City”!

The official awards ceremony took place on September 8 at the Ho’s Clan Association Exhibition Hall. This year’s theme challenged young minds to observe their everyday urban surroundings, imagine new ways to improve local leisure environments, and share their inspiring visions for a greener, more connected community.

Ruby’s artwork beautifully captured this spirit, reflecting a bright and thoughtful vision for the future of our city. We are thrilled to see our students engaging with important community concepts like CESL Asia’s “City Terrace”—reclaiming neglected spaces for greenery, relaxation, and connection.

Today marked an extraordinary learning experience for our Primary 6, Secondary 1, and Secondary 4 cohorts as we participated in the live broadcast of the "Tiangong Class." 🛰️

The live stream from the China Space Station offered our students a unique glimpse into the physics and biology of space. Watching the astronauts conduct experiments in microgravity was not only educational but truly ignited a passion for aerospace science among our students. We are proud to cultivate curiosity and a spirit of scientific inquiry!

Martin Mathieson is a UK educator with 34 years of international experience. An IB Diploma Programme Examiner for Design Technology and an IB MYP Consultant for the Asia-Pacific region, Martin is an award-winning expert in woodcraft, textiles, and computer-aided design. Martin has a master’s degree in education and has worked at renowned international schools across China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand, and the UK.

Felix Danso is a dynamic international educator and leader from Ghana, dedicated to helping every child thrive. With experience teaching and leading professional learning across Europe, Africa, and Asia, he brings a global perspective and a strong commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student well-being. Felix is an experienced IB Visual Arts leader and a Primary Years Programme consultant. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Art Education, a master’s degree in Advanced Teaching, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

Sara Billey is a dedicated primary education teacher from Canada with a strong educational foundation and extensive classroom experience in both Kindergarten and Elementary. With 10 years of experience in the PYP as a teacher and leader, Sara holds a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Known for her literacy expertise, Sara brings a deep understanding of how children learn best and how to support their growth as readers and writers.
