Types of Interpretation

Simultaneous Interpretation
In this mode of interpretation the interpreter listens to spoken content through headphones, and speaks the translated words into a microphone. As soon as the interpreter understands the general meaning of the sentence, he or she begins the interpretation. The simultaneous interpretation is rendered to target-language listeners via their earphones.

Consecutive Interpretation
To allow the interpreter to render what was said into the target language, consecutive interpreting relies on the speaker to stop speaking frequently, on average, every one to five minutes. The speaker's pauses come at the end of a sentence or topic. While waiting, the interpreter listens and takes notes as the speaker moves forward through the communication. A vital skill involved in consecutive interpreting is note-taking, since few people can memorize a complete paragraph in a single hearing without losing detail

“Introduction to Translation” course will provide practical guidance in translation both to beginners at an introductory level and to experienced translators.
The course consists of 3 modules (36 hours of total instruction). The student will be familiarized with the theory and professional standards of translation (8 hours). Following that, KKSIT students will be given English – Burmese Translation training (14 hours) and Burmese – English translation training (14 hours).

"Introduction to Interpretation" course provides the learner with the fundamental theories and practices of effective interpretation and is ideal for those new to the field or simply interested in a refresher on interpretation concepts. In this course, the students will also learn about the skills and aptitudes interpreters must have to perform this important work, the ethical standards they abide by in their daily practice, and the role of the interpreter as a linguistic mediator between provider and client.
The course consists of 3 modules
(48 hours of instruction in total)
Module 1 – Theory and professional standard of interpreting – 12 hours
Module 2 – English-Burmese consecutive interpreting - 18 hours
Module 3 – Burmese-English consecutive interpreting - 18 hours
Fees: 300000 MMK.
