"Attaining Calmness in Body and Spirit Through the Practice of Right Samadhi"

Being calm in body and spirit involves maintaining tranquility in our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body sensations, and mind. It means not allowing our mind to find pleasure in seeing beautiful images, hearing pleasant sounds, or tasting delightful flavors, etc.

The true essence of being calm in body and spirit stems from a tranquil and still mind. There are three levels to achieve this state:

1. Pretending to be calm: Attempting to display tranquility in body and spirit, often to others.
2. Training ourselves to be calm: Actively working to attain a state of tranquility.
3. Training our mind to achieve tranquility: Reaching a state where the mind becomes tranquil and still at its core. This peaceful state originates within us, radiating calmness to our external senses. This method represents the optimal approach to attaining calmness in body and spirit. It is the ideal state of mind taught by the Buddha, accessible to all through dedicated practice of Right Samadhi.
