๐ŸŒฟ MINDFULNESS AT HOME & SCHOOL

At Elite International School, we believe that supporting children goes beyond academics. Their emotional well-being, self-awareness, resilience, relationships, and ability to manage everyday challenges are equally important.

We recently hosted a special session with Ven. Nandacara, a Buddhist monk, researcher, and author specializing in Buddhist Psychology, psychology, and counselling.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ About Our Speaker
Ven. Nandacara holds a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, along with advanced qualifications in Psychology, Buddhist Counselling, and Buddhist Ayurvedic Counselling. He is also an International Affiliate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a founding member of Thismoment Zone, where he provides mental health education and training.

๐ŸŒฑ A Practical & Inclusive Session

Although the speaker has an academic background in Buddhist Studies, the session was not a religious teaching or practice session.

Instead, the discussion explored mindfulness as a practical approach to:

โœจ Understanding children better
โœจ Supporting emotional well-being
โœจ Developing patience and self-awareness
โœจ Strengthening communication
โœจ Creating a more mindful home and school environment

We are grateful to our parents, students and teachers for joining us in exploring how greater mindfulness among adults can contribute to the holistic development and well-being of our children.

When adults become more mindful, children are given more space to grow, connect, and thrive. ๐ŸŒฟ

Some researchers predict that the world could need millions of new environmental jobs by 2030. But behind these numbers is something much more meaningful: our ecosystems are changing, and future generations may not experience many of the things we take for granted today.
Today, our students had a surprisingly simple experience that made this reality much more tangible.
They tasted different kinds of honey from Puta-Oo, Kayah State, and Tanintharyi Region in Myanmar. They could distinguish the differences between the natural taste and the more processed, human-made tasteโ€”and, more importantly, they began to appreciate the true essence of natural honey.

It may look like a simple honey-tasting activity, but it speaks a lot to young minds.

When students can taste biodiversity, rather than only read about it in a textbook, they begin to understand what we could lose when ecosystems disappear.

And the response from our students has been encouraging.

Their enthusiasm is now showing through their weekly projects, including their hard work on insect hotels and other environmental activities.

It feels like our weekly sessions with Sayar Aung Myo Chit are slowly becoming more than lessons. They are becoming a small beginning toward community-based environmental awareness.

Perhaps this is how environmental education should beginโ€”not only by telling children that nature is disappearing, but by helping them experience, appreciate, and understand what is still alive around them.

This time, we are honoured to host a Literature Talk by Sayama Khin Thandar, a highly respected Myanmar writer who has made remarkable contributions to the country's literary community through her essays, fiction, and literary criticism.
She is also the recipient of the prestigious S.E.A. Writer Award 2025, one of Southeast Asia's highest honours for literary achievement.
In her inspiring talk, Sayama Khin Thandar encouraged our students to reject the attitude of "it's none of my business" and instead embrace the belief that everything around them matters.
She reminded them that the world does not only need people who point out problemsโ€”it needs people who care, take responsibility, and choose to make a difference.
Through the power of literature, she inspired our students to think deeply, act compassionately, and become active contributors to a better society.

This is just the beginning!
We will continue to invite distinguished authors and literary voices to engage with our students through literature talks.
We believe that literature not only enriches the mind but also nourishes the soul, broadens perspectives, and inspires young people to think critically, care deeply, and lead with purpose.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Safety Through Practice, Confidence Through Preparedness ๐Ÿ”ฅ

At Elite International School, we firmly believe that safety comes before academic excellence, leadership, social development, and every other skill we strive to nurture.
From EYFS to IGCSE, fostering a culture of safety is one of our highest priorities.

EIS had an opportunity of hosting a Practical Fire Extinguishing Demonstration conducted by the Township Fire Brigade.

Our security guards, crew members, teachers, and students actively participated in the hands-on training, learning the proper techniques for using fire extinguishers and responding safely in emergency situations.

A heartfelt thank you to the Township Fire Brigade for sharing their expertise and helping our school community become better prepared.

At our school, education goes beyond developing language skillsโ€”we are committed to fostering deep understanding across every subject.

๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ”ฌ True understanding in science grows when theory is paired with experience.
Concepts that are only read about often remain abstract, but when students are given opportunities to explore, observe, and question, learning becomes deeper, more meaningful, and long-lasting.

๐ŸŒฟ Connecting Young Minds with Myanmar's Wild Heritage

As part of EIS 2026 Initiatives, our Secondary students had the privilege of learning from U Aung Myo Chit, an internationally recognised ecologist behind National Geographic documentaries including Elephant Power and Sea Gypsies of the Mergui Archipelago.
An unforgettable journey into Myanmar's rich biodiversityโ€”cultivating curiosity, knowledge, and environmental stewardship.
Beyond inspiring a love for nature, he introduced students to future educational and career pathways in ecology, conservation, and environmental science, opening their eyes to some of the world's most meaningful and increasingly in-demand professions.
