စာသင်သားများ မသိနိုင်သေးသည့် off ၏အသုံးများ

အင်္ဂလိပ်စာ အခြေခံအဆင့် သင်ထားပြီးသူများဆိုရင် off ကို - preposition လိုသုံးတာ
I fell off the ladder.
ငါ လှေကားပေါ်ကနေ ပြုတ်ကျခဲ့တယ်။
⁃ adverb လိုသုံးတာ
Take your coat off.
မင်းရဲ့ ကုတ်အင်္ကျီကို ချွတ်လိုက်ပါ။
စသည့် အခြေခံ သုံးပုံများကို သင်ခဲ့ရ၊ လေ့လာခဲ့ရမှာပါ။ ဒီ post မှာတော့ ဒီ off ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးလေးကိုပဲ စကားပြောမှာ လက်တွေ့ အသုံးချပုံများစွာရှိသေးတာကို ရေးပြချင်ပါတယ်။ အင်္ဂလိပ်ရုပ်ရှင်တွေကြည့်ရင်၊ ဝတ္ထုတွေဖတ်ရင် ဒီလို အသုံးလေးတွေနဲ့ ကြုံရမှာဖြစ်တယ်။ ကိုယ်တိုင် နိုင်ငံခြားသားများနဲ့ natural English ကို fluently ပြောနိုင်ချင်ရင်လည်း သိကိုသိထားရမယ့် အသုံးလေးတွေပါပဲ။ ကျွန်တော့်လက်စွဲဖြစ်တဲ့ Cambridge နဲ့ Oxford အဘိဓာန်ကြီးနှစ်ခုမှ နမူနာဝါကျများကို ဆွဲထုတ်ယူထားပါတယ်။ ဖတ် မှတ်ပါတော့။

📍အခြေခံအဆင့် ကျောင်းသားများ မသိနိုင်သေးတဲ့ off ရဲ့ အသုံးတစ်ခုကတော့ အစားအသောက်တွေ မလတ်ဆတ်တော့ဘူး၊ သိုးသွားပြီ၊ အချဉ်ပေါက်သွားပြီ ဆိုတာပါ။
သုံးတဲ့ verb pattern ကိုမှတ်ပါ။
verb + off (ဥပမာ smell off သိုးနံ့ထွက်နေတယ်)
go + off (This curry has gone off. ဒီဟင်း သိုးသွားပြီ။)

This fish has gone off.
ငါးက သိုးနေပြီ၊ ပုတ်နေပြီ။

The milk smells off.
နို့က ချဥ်နံ့/သိုးနံ့ထွက်နေပြီ။

It's off.
မကောင်းတော့ဘူး၊ သိုးနေပြီ။
(ဒီဝါကျမှာတော့ off တစ်လုံးတည်းကိုပဲ adjective လိုသုံးထားတယ်။)

📍အပေါ်မှာ off ကို အစားအသောက်တွေ သိုးသွားပြီဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်နဲ့ မှတ်ခဲ့ကြပြီးပြီ။ ဒါပေမဲ့ စားသောက်ဆိုင်မှာ ကိုယ်စားချင်တဲ့ဟာကို မှာလိုက်တဲ့အခါမှာ၊ ဥပမာ ကြက်ကင် grilled chicken ကိုမှာလိုက်တာကို စားပွဲထိုးက The chicken is off. လို့ပြန်ပြောခဲ့ရင် ဒီ context ဒီ situation မှာ off ဟာ သိုးသွားတာမဟုတ်ဘူး။ ဒါကို မရောင်းဘူး၊ ဒီအချိန်မှာ သူ့ရာသီမဟုတ်လို့၊ ရှားလို့ စသည်ဖြင့် မရဘူးလို့ပြောတာပါ။ ဒီမှာ off ဟာ off the menu ပေါ့။ Not on the menu. We no longer serve it. We have taken the grilled chicken off the menu. ဒီဆိုင်မှာ ရနိုင်တဲ့ စားသောက်ဖွယ်စာရင်းမှာ ကြက်ကင် မရဘူးပေါ့။ အောက်မှာ waiter က customer ကို ပြောပုံ နမူနာတွေကို ကြည့်ပါ။

I'm sorry, sir, the salmon is off.
ဆယ်မန်ငါး မရပါဘူးခင်ဗျာ။

Sorry, the duck is off.
ဘဲသား ဒီနေ့မရပါ။

📍နောက်ထပ် စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာကောင်းတဲ့ off ကိုသုံးပုံလေးကတော့ to get rid off တစ်ခုခုကို ရှင်းပစ်၊ ဖယ်ရှားပစ်၊ ပျောက်သွားအောင် လုပ်ပစ်ဖို့ ဆိုတဲ့ အသုံးလေးပါ။ Native speaker တွေပြောတဲ့ နေ့စဥ်သုံး အင်္ဂလိပ်စကားဆိုတာ ဒီလိုမျိုး ရှင်းရှင်း လှလှ ဝါကျလေးတွေပါပဲ။ ကိုယ်တိုင်လည်း ဒါမျိုးလေးတွေ သုံးနိုင်အောင်၊ သုံးမိအောင် လေ့လာထားပါ။

We went out for a while to walk off some of our dinner.
ညစာစားပြီး အစာကြေအောင် ခဏလေး လမ်းလျှောက်ထွက်ခဲ့ကြတယ်။ (စားထားလို့ ဗိုက်လေးနေတာ ပေါ့သွားအောင် walk off our dinner)

He's gone to sleep off a headache.
ခေါင်းကိုက်နေတာ ပျောက်သွားအောင် သူသွားအိပ်တယ်။ (sleep off your headache)

There's no point in getting upset about what he said - you just have to laugh it off.
သူပြောတာကို စိတ်မကောင်းဖြစ်နေလို့ မထူးဘူး၊ ရယ်စရာမောစရာအဖြစ်သာ သဘောထားလိုက်ပါတော့။

📍အသုံးများတဲ့ off ရဲ့ နောက် အဓိပ္ပာယ်တစ်ခုကတော့ တစ်ခုခုလုပ်ဖို့ စီစဉ်ထားပြီးတော့မှ မလုပ်တော့ဘူး၊ မလုပ်ဖြစ်တော့ဘူးဆိုပြီး cancel လုပ်လိုက်တာမျိုး။ call off ဆိုတဲ့ phrasal verb နဲ့ ဆင်တူပါတယ်။ သမီးရည်းစားတွေ ပြတ်စဲသွားကြတာ၊ relationship တစ်ခု လမ်းခွဲ အဆုံးသတ်သွားတာ စသည့်အဓိပ္ပာယ်တွေရဲ့ အသုံးကို အောက်က နမူနာဝါကျတွေမှာ ကြည့်ပါ။

The wedding's off - she's decided she's too young to settle down.
လက်ထပ်ပွဲ မလုပ်ဖြစ်တော့ဘူး၊ အိမ်ထောင်ပြုဖို့ သိပ်ငယ်သေးတယ်လို့ သူက ဆုံးဖြတ်လိုက်လို့။

It's all off between Kim and Mike.
Kim နဲ့ Mike တို့ ပြတ်သွားကြပြီ။

📍Speaking မှာ off ကိုသုံးတဲ့ နောက်အဓိပ္ပာယ်တစ်ခုက ရိုင်းတာ၊ ရင့်တာ၊ သူများရဲ့ စိတ်ခံစားချက်ကို ထည့်မတွက်တတ်တာ။ လူတစ်ယောက်က ကိုယ့်ကို စိမ်းကားတာမျိုး၊ ခပ်ရင့်ရင့် ဆက်ဆံတာမျိုးကို He was off with me. လို့ speaking မှာ သုံးကြတာမျိုးပေါ့။

He didn't even call her on her birthday - I thought that was a bit off.
သူ(မ)ရဲ့ မွေးနေ့မှာ သူက ဖုန်းလေးတောင် မဆက်ဘူး၊ လူမှုရေးလေးတောင် မရှိပါလား။

He was a bit off with me this morning.
ဒီမနက် သူက ငါ့ကို သိပ်မကြည်ဘူး။

📍 ဒီ post လေးကို အခြေခံသမားများ မသိနိုင်သေးတဲ့ off ရဲ့ နောက်ထပ် အသုံးနှစ်ခုနဲ့ ရပ်ပါရစေ။

off ကို verb လိုလည်း သုံးနိုင်တယ် ဆိုတာ သိပ်မသိကြဘူး။

off (verb) = to kill someone
They offed him and dumped his body in the swamp.
သူတို့က သူ့ကို သတ်လိုက်ပြီး သူ့အလောင်းကို ရွှံ့ညွန်ထဲ ပစ်ထားခဲ့တယ်။

off ကို noun လိုလည်း သုံးနိုင်သေးတယ်။ ပြေးပွဲတွေမှာ ပွဲအစ တာထွက်တာကို off လို့သုံးတယ်။

off (noun) = the start of a race

They're ready for the off.
သူတို့ တာထွက်ဖို့ အသင့်ဖြစ်နေပြီ။

ဒါမျိုး စိတ်ဝင်စားစရာ ဝါကျလေးများကို ဆက်လေ့လာချင်ရင် အဘိဓာန်ကို ဖွင့်ဖတ်ပါ။
