Myanmar International School (MIS) is an independent, coeducational day school, Nursery-Year 13 (ages 3-18 years). The school was purposefully built and opened in 2009 to provide the best possible learning environment for its students. The facilities are modern and the resources and learning strategies used by staff ensure students are receiving an international education designed for the 21st century. The language of instruction is English. Staff at MIS come from varied international backgrounds including Austria, England, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, and USA. Most classes have an assistant teacher who works closely with the classroom teacher, especially in the area of EAL support. MIS has 25 different nationalities represented on the student body of around 700 students. Currently a majority of our students are Myanmar. The following are also represented: China, Japan, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Korea, Russia, India, South Africa and Thailand. MIS Year levels and programmes of study

Nursery & Kindergarten (3-5 years)

Learning takes place in a supportive and stimulating environment. Through play, music and the arts children lay foundations for further studies. An emphasis is placed on phonetics as a lead up to reading. Years 1-6 (5-11 years)
