UTM International Kuala Lumpur Hosts Ambassador GlobaLecture China 2026
UTM International Kuala Lumpur was honoured to host the Ambassador GlobaLecture China 2026 on 5 August 2026 at the Seminar Hall, Menara Razak, UTM Kuala Lumpur. The programme featured H.E. Mr. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, who delivered the lecture entitled “Innovation, Partnership & Shared Prosperity: China–Malaysia Community with a Shared Future in a Changing World.”
In his lecture, H.E. Mr. Ouyang Yujing addressed the importance of sustained Malaysia–China cooperation in navigating a rapidly changing global environment. The session highlighted the role of innovation, higher education, talent development, research collaboration and people-to-people engagement in translating bilateral relations into meaningful outcomes. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening university-to-university partnerships, expanding academic and student mobility, advancing collaborative research, and preparing future graduates to contribute effectively within international and cross-cultural environments. The lecture also reinforced the significance of universities as strategic bridges connecting diplomacy, knowledge, technology and shared prosperity.
The programme commenced with welcoming remarks by YBrs. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shafry Mohd Rahim, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and was attended by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ariffin Abu Hassan, Director of UTM International; Dr. Faiezi Zuber, Director of the Higher Education Internationalisation Division, Ministry of Higher Education; and Mr. Nasir Osman, Head of Administration, UTM Kuala Lumpur Branch Campus. The session provided an important platform for diplomatic representatives, university leaders, academics and students to reflect on future cooperation in education, science, technology and international engagement.
UTM International Kuala Lumpur extends its sincere appreciation to the diplomatic representatives who attended the programme, including Mr. Denys Mykhailiu, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Ukraine; Mr. Zhao Changtao, Education Counsellor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia; Mr. Michal Plsko, State Advisor, Embassy of the Slovak Republic; Mr. Nilton Saad, First Secretary, Embassy of Timor-Leste; Mr. Ilyas Aden Muktar, First Secretary for Political Affairs, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia; Ms. Elizabeth Surguladze, Second Secretary, Embassy of Georgia; and Dr. Aiman Elmahmodi, Academic Attaché, Embassy of the State of Libya.
The event brought together more than 100 participants, comprising UTM staff, local and international students, as well as students and staff from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). Their participation enriched the discussion and demonstrated strong interest in international cooperation, future talent development and cross-border academic collaboration.
The presence of all distinguished guests, diplomats, university leaders, staff and students made the programme especially meaningful. Through continued dialogue, knowledge exchange and institutional collaboration, UTM remains committed to strengthening partnerships and shaping a more connected, innovative, and prosperous shared future.

🌿 Walk. Breathe. Thrive. 🌿
On 28 July 2026, 30 participants, comprising UTM International staff, international students, representatives from the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) (JTNCAA), and the Chancellery, came together for the Healthy Trail @ Taman Tugu Kuala Lumpur programme.
The programme was organised to promote a healthy lifestyle while strengthening engagement and collaboration between staff and the international student community in a refreshing natural environment. Participants enjoyed a rejuvenating forest walk, meaningful conversations, and quality time together away from the workplace and classrooms.
The Healthy Trail reflects UTM International’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and healthy campus community, where staff and international students connect beyond academic and administrative settings while embracing active living in support of the UTM ASCEND 2030 agenda.

♻️ TRASH TO CASH 💚🌍
One Bag of Recyclables Today. A Healthier Planet Tomorrow.
On 22 July 2026, the UTM International Kuala Lumpur team proudly participated in the Trash to Cash programme held at Sangkar 3R, UTM Kuala Lumpur in support of UTM’s sustainability agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Together, we collected and sent recyclable materials including plastic, paper, used cooking oil, e waste, books, metal, glass and other recyclable items. Every contribution helps reduce landfill waste, conserve natural resources and support a circular economy.
This is Planetary Health in action.
A healthier planet begins with everyday choices. By recycling responsibly, we reduce pollution, lower carbon emissions and create a cleaner environment that benefits both people and nature.
