42-form tai chi combines movements from the Chen, Yang, Wu, and Sun styles of traditional Tai Chi Chuan ( taiji quan ).
It was founded in 1988 by Wushu Research Institute experts to create an International standard of tai chi chuan competition routine (comprehensive 42 styles).
