ကဲ... ဒီတစ်ခါတော့ no sooner... than... ကို အခြေပြု ဆင်တူရာလေးတွေစုပြီး လေ့လာကြည့်ကြမယ်။

အောက်မှာ ဖော်ပြထားတာက The Count of Monte Christo by Alexandre Dumas ထဲက ဝါကျတစ်ခု...

- သူတို့ ကျွန်းပေါ် ခြေချရုံသေး လက်နက်ကိုဆောင်ထားသူတွေက ကြိုဆိုနေလေရဲ့။

No sooner... than... ရဲ့ အဓိပ္ပါယ်က...

- one thing happened immediately after another
- တစ်ခုဖြစ်ပြီးပြီးခြင်း နောက်တစ်ခုဖြစ်ပျက်တာ။ တစ်ခုပြီး တစ်ခု ဆက်တိုက်ဖြစ်တာ။

No sooner... ကို နေရာရွှေ့ကြည့်လို့ရလား...

No sooner had they stepped... လို့ပဲ ရေးတာနော်။ No sooner they had stepped... လို့မရေးဘူး။ ဒါကို inverted structure လို့ခေါ်တယ်။ #လေးနက်စေချင်လို့ အဲ့လိုသုံးတာ။ စာဆန်တဲ့အသုံး၊ ထည်ဝါတဲ့ အသုံး။

ပုံမှန်အတိုင်းဆို သူ့ကို mid-position မှာ ထား... ပြီးတယ်။ ဒီလို...

ဒီလိုသုံးလို့ရတာ... ဒီလိုသုံးတတ်တာ သူ့ချည်းပဲလားဆိုတော့လည်း မဟုတ်။ ဒီအသုံးတွေလည်း ရှိတယ်။

ဒီသဘောနဲ့ သုံးကြည့်ဖို့. . .

- စလယ်အိုးလေးမှ ဖင်မမဲသေးဘူး... ကွဲကြပြီ။

- ကြိုက်ကြတာဖြင့် မကြာသေးဘူး... ပြတ်ကြပြီ။

- အလုပ်က ပြန်ရောက်ရောက်ချင်း ခင်ဗျားဆီ တန်းလာခဲ့လိုက်တာပဲ။

- ခေါင်းချလိုက်ရုံရှိသေး အိပ်ပျော်သွားတာပဲ။

ဟုတ်ကဲ့... လွယ်တယ်လို့ ထင်ချင်လည်း ထင်နိင်ပါတယ်။ အတွေးတစ်ခု ရချင်လည်း ရနိုင်ပါတယ်။

ဒီနေ့တော့ on / upon + V-ing အသုံးကို ပေါ့ပေါ့ပါးပါး လေ့လာကြည့်ကြမယ်။

on / upon + V-ing ကို when something happens / as soon as something happens အနက်နဲ့ သုံးတာပါ။ time sequence နဲ့ဆိုင်တယ်။

တစ်ခုခုကို မြင်လိုက်ကြားလိုက်မိတာနဲ့ ချက်ချင်း၊ ချက်ချင်းဆိုသလို၊ ...သည့် အချိန်ပဲ တခြားအခြေအနေတစ်ခုဖြစ်သွားတာ...

ပုံပါ ဝါကျလေးတွေကို ကြည့်ရအောင်...

- Upon reaching home, Dantes found his father in a miserable state.
- Dantes အိမ်ပြန်ရောက်ချိန်မှာ သူ့ဖခင်ခမျာ ဆင်းရဲဒုက္ခရောက်နေတာ မြင်တွေ့လိုက်ရလေတယ်။

အဲဒီ upon + V-ing clause ကို ဒီလို rephrasing ပြန်လုပ်လည်းရ။

နောက်တစ်ချက်... အဲ့ဝါကျထဲကပဲ...

the nighteen-year-old first-mate of the ship, Edmond Dantes, ... က nouns in apposition ရေးဖွဲ့ပုံပေါ့။ the nighteen-year-old first-mate of the ship ဆိုတာ Dantes ပဲ... တစ်ယောက်တည်း။ ဒုတိယ noun ရဲ့ ရှေ့/နောက်မှာ commas ညှပ်ထားတယ်။ ဒါက nouns-in-apposition structure ရဲ့ အသက်။

ပုံမှန်ဆို proper noun ဖြစ်တဲ့ လူနာမည်ကရှေ့ကတည်... သူ့ရဲ့ ဂုဏ်အရည်အချင်း/ ရာထူးအလုပ်အကိုင်ကိုဖော်ပြတဲ့ noun group က နောက်မှာထားလေ့ ရှိတာ။
