Dr Kyaw Kyaw Thet
For more than 10 years Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Thet has been a constant presence at the University of Medicine in Mandalay. For the first 7 years he studied to become a doctor, he was very brilliant and passed with Distinctions in almost all subjects of every year in university life.He was a dedicated student with passion to pursue medicine and of course the teachers were impressed by his work ethic.
He is quite a quiet person, never seeking attention, but also never fails to welcomes all comments and thoughts from those around him. He has never judged others and has always treated all people with respect. He listened to each and every one who approached him for advice and has always responded with a polite and happy demeanor. A kind, wise and generous person is all to describe him in short.
After graduated from university of medicine Mandalay, he has worked at charity clinics, and at the same time also taking up teaching, sharing his knowledge and skill to teach other medical students at the university.
When the universities and schools are closed due to the military dictatorship and coup, he made every effort to continue to educate the many medical students with lectures on YouTube. He provided free clinical training classes, and he shared many useful medical knowledge to the public. He also provided professional advice to local charities. He is currently working with Online Telemedicine for COVID patients and is preparing to work with students on the ground for the medic training.
This young gentleman has his own struggles as well .
He’s a son of a widowed mother who needs constant medical treatment, brother of a younger sister both of whom rely on his teaching income for medical supplies and educational support .
He has been recognized internationally because of his hard work and brilliance. He was given international qualification which allows him to work overseas if he desired to, his level of knowledge and skill in medicine has been valued anywhere in the world.
Dr Kyaw Kyaw Thet was unjustifiably beaten and arrested by the Myanmar Military at night on July 13, 2021 for no valid reason . His family, and friends do not know where he is now and has lost contact since he was taken
Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Thet showed great mental fortitudes during the many struggles of the Spring Revolution,the fight of the Burmese people against the military coup. He did his job so well and responsibly and this probably is the reason military detained him.
This spring revolution has been harsh for him as well . He lost his best friend Dr Thiha Tin Tun to the bloody hands of the Myanmar military. Despite the loss of his dear friend , he has never walked away from the path of revolution and in fact put more efforts for all the contributions that he can give in.
Under all circumstances the unjustified arrest of Dr. Kyaw Kyaw Thet needs international attention to apply pressure to the military to release him and all others arrested personals immediately.
We are on the brink of losing this precious young man and we need the international community help to protect him.
