1. bail ( n ) ဘေးလ်, ဒဏ်ငွေ
definition- sum of money paid to a court by accused (တရားစွဲခံရသူ) person.

eg. he was released on bail after 3 months under detention (ထိန်းသိမ်းခြင်း).

eg. The judge refused to grant (သဘောတူလက်ခံ) bail.

2. conspiracy ( n ) ကော်စပင်းရာစီ, လျို့ဝှက်ကြံစီမှု

definition- secretly plan to do something illegal (တရားမဝင်မှု).

eg.1. He is accused (စွပ်စွဲခံရ) of conspiracy after he tried to steal top secret of his country.

eg.2. He has been charged with conspiracy.

3. appeal ( n ) အာဖီးယယ်လ်, လျှောက်လဲချက်

definition- a request to a court to change a previous decision

Sanction နဲ့ နဲနဲ ဆင်တူသည်၊ ပိတ်ဆို့အရေးအယူ

Definition – a list of people or countries who are considered to be unacceptable and should not be trusted or should be avoided.

Eg.1. some companies have been blacklisted because they are linked with military.

Eg.1. Some of Myanmar military generals are put in to the blacklist by US and EU due to human rights violation (လူ့အခွင့်အရေးချိုးဖောက်မှု) according to human rights group.

2. Sensitive ( adj ) ဆဲန် ဆစ်တင်းဗ်, ထိလွယ်ရှလွယ်သော
Definition – easily upset or causing upset because it embarrassed (အရှက်ရစေသည်) or angry people.

Eg.1. politics is a very sensitive topic in China.

Eg.2. Religions and S*x education are very sensitive issues in our country.

3. Digress ( v ), ဒိုင်ဂရက်စ်, Digression ( n ) - ဒိုင်ဂရက်ဆင်းန် - စကားလွဲသည်

Definition – to move away from the main topic or subject

Eg.1. Don’t try to digress, you were talking about friendship, now you talk about money.

Eg.2. Now I digress, so to get back from what I was saying, this discussion must be only about our company rather than personal information.

Definition – a large number of people, large amount of something.

Eg. 1. Government ordered its citizens to avoid mass gathering to prevent Covid-19.

Eg. 2. Thai authority plans mass testing after Covid -19 surge (မြင့်တက်) yesterday.

2. Residence ( n ), ရက်စင်းဒက်စ်၊ အိမ်ယာ၊ တရာဝင်နေထိုင်မှု၊ တရာဝင်နေထိုင်သူ၊ နိုင်ငံသားခံယူထားသူ...

Definition – a home, official living or official citizen of a country.

Eg. 1. Regional government ban (တားမြစ်) residence from going out in Yangon in order not to spread virus.

Eg. 2. They take up residence in Canada.

Definition – a rule to stay at home during the night or specific time because of war or political issue.

1. Misogyny ( n ), မင်ဆောဂျင်နင်, misogynist ( n ) မင်ဆောဂျင်းနစ်ထ်, - အမျိုးသမီးထုကို မုန်းတီးသော အယူအဆ၊ အမျိုးသားတစ်ဦးဦးက အမျိုးသားထုဟာ အမျိုးသမီးထုထက် မြင့်မြတ်သည်၊ ကောင်းမွန်သည်ဟု ယူဆသူ။

Definition – the idea of hatred against women, someone who believes that men are much better than women.

Eg. 1. The lyrics of her song complains the idea of misogyny.

Eg. 2. The president is considered as a misogynist because he does not like women to take part in the politics in his country.

2. Diatribe ( n ) ဒိုင်ယာထရိုင်းဗ် - စိတ်ဆိုးသော အပြောအဆို၊ တစ်စုံတစ်ခု တစ်စုံတယောက်ကို ဝေဖန်မုန်းတီးသော အရေးအသား ကိုရည်ညွန်းတာပါ။

Definition – an angry speech, a piece of writing that criticizes something or someone.

1. impose ( v ) အင်မ်ပို့စ် ၊ ဥပဒေစည်းမျဥ်းတစ်ခုခုကို ပြဋ္ဌာန်းသည်။ ကျင့်သုံးသည်။

Definition – to officially force a rule, or a law

Eg. 1. Lawmakers imposed a new law last week which is punishable with death penalty.

Eg. 2. Government around the world impose a rule that bans citizens from public gathering soon after WHO announced Covid-19 as a global pandemic.

2. Violate ( v ), Violation ( n ) စည်းကမ်း/ဥပဒေ ချိုးဖောက်သည်။
Synonym – breach

Definition – to break a law, to break an agreement/ a contract

Eg. 1. The doctor is accused of violating the law after he refused to operate a patient.

Eg. 2. If you go out without any reasonable proof, government will consider that you violate the current rules and regulations.

3. Ethic ( n ), ethical ( adj ), ethically ( adv ) - ကိုယ်ကျင့်တရားစောင့်ထိန်းခြင်း

1. Cope ( v ) ကိုးပ်, အခက်အခဲတစ်ခုခုကို ပါးနပ်စွာ စီမံဆောင်ရွက်သည်။
Definition – to manage or deal successfully with a difficult situation.
Eg. 1. He can cope with his new job: he is such a clever guy.
Eg. 2. It is not easy to cope with many activities.

2. Veer ( v ) ဝီးယာရ်, ရုတ်တရက်လမ်းကြောင်းပြောင်း/လွဲ
Definition – to change a direction, normally suddenly.
Eg. 1. I had to veer my car when I suddenly see a giant snake crossed the road.

Definition – to move people from a dangerous place to a safe place

Definition – someone who does not agree or approve with someone or something. Someone whose job is to give their opinion about something.

Eg. 2. He appears regularly on State TV as a critic for local Newspapers.

Definition – to spread liquid or substance over something
( N ) – a situation when someone is publicly accused of something unpleasant, unreasonable to damage his/her reputation.

Eg. 1. You can smear butter or honey over bread and enjoy the taste.

Eg. 2. Government regard protest as a smear against the winning party.

2. Predator ( N ) ဖရဲဒေထာရ်

Definition – an animal that hunts and kills other animal for food. A person who secretly follows other people to harm or commit a crime against them.

Eg. 1. Tigers are the most powerful predators for other animals.

Eg. 2. Predators target young women for sexual exploitation.

3. Victim ( N ) ဗစ်ခ်ထင်မ်

Definition – someone or something which has been hurt, damaged, or even killed.

Definition – to reach a high level, to rise very quickly

Definition – an argument or disagreement with someone or somebody, to disagree with something that someone says.

3. Shun ( v ) - ရှန်း လို့အသံထွက်
