I received the accompanying comment (see pic) on one of my posts. I was speaking in English in that video, and it was unscripted.

This is not the first time I’ve received similar comments from random people. Normally, I would shake it off and stay unbothered. But I realized there must be some sort of agenda to mislead certain students.

So I decided to write this.

I have been consistently sharing English language learning and teaching content on this page for almost two years, and some of my content has taken off and received attention.

Posting on this page, my purpose is not to create viral content or follow trends to gain followers. I don’t need to do such things to sell my classes. I already have an established English school that has been running for almost nine years.

My intention here is simply to share my years of learning and teaching experience with my students, aspiring English learners, and teachers. Yes, I do post some information about my classes, as there have been many enquiries in my inbox and comments.

Most of what I share is content that English learners or teachers will find valuable. This page is also a platform to provide information about free English classes and to run English teacher support groups.

I have been teaching English for more than 15 years, and I have worked hard to build my career through continuous learning, research, and consistent effort.

I have been co-running an English school with Sayar Francis. Both of us have studied for a Master’s degree in Education Management. I actively engage in CPD and continuously work to improve my qualifications. I’m not saying this to show off, but to demonstrate that we are qualified and experienced in what we do. Since I received my education through scholarships, I would like to give back to the community that’s why I create content on this page.

Just a side note, not everyone who creates English language video content is amateur, inexperienced, or unqualified.

So please do your research before commenting on my video quality, my English, or my qualifications especially before accusing me of not being able to utter a single line of English or having poor pronunciation.

I’m not saying that my English is perfect. But I believe in my professionalism and my ethics as a teacher would never allow posting something that would cause students to mislearn or be misled.

That being said in unscripted videos, there may be minor pronunciation or grammar slips.Show me someone who doesn’t make mistakes or who is perfect. Even native teachers make mistakes.

And one more thing, knowing English is not about having an American or British accent. It is about being able to communicate fluently, naturally, and clearly. Please read research papers, teaching articles, and books on Global Englishes and English as a Lingua Franca.

I also wonder how flawless the English skills are of those who make such comments and how many students they have taught, and what kind of contributions they have made.

Interestingly, those who leave these kinds of comments often show no evidence of their own skills, professional background, or achievements. Those who have qualifications tend to show respect and would never behave this way toward fellow educators. Instead, they discuss, debate, and provide constructive criticism and feedback, which I genuinely appreciate and welcome.

This post is not seeking validation or approval from anyone to do what I am qualified to do and believe is right. Nor do I owe anyone an explanation of my credentials.

I’m writing this to make others aware that some people show up just to gain followers or students by trying to prove they are better. Come on. You won’t earn trust like that. Instead, work hard to build your own career.

And please know that any misleading comments intended to deceive students as well as downright personal attacks on my posts will be deleted.

That said, I simply want to make it clear that I will not tolerate self-serving behaviour or condescending attitudes from people trying to prove they are better than others.
