A reflex arc is the pathway that a nerve impulse follows to produce a reflex action , an automatic, quick response to a stimulus (like pulling your hand away from something hot).

🧠 Steps in a Reflex Arc :

1. Stimulus – Something happens (e.g., you touch something hot).

2. Receptor – Sensors in your skin detect the stimulus.

3. Sensory Neuron – Carries the message to the spinal cord.

4. Relay Neuron (in spinal cord) – Connects sensory neuron to motor neuron

5. Motor Neuron – Carries the message to a muscle.

6. Effector – The muscle reacts (e.g., pulls your hand away).

It’s fast — no need for the brain to get involved first.

It helps protect your body from harm.
