Një vizit nga Karen Westwood një udhëheqëse dhe eksperte e shquar e bibliotekave nga Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës, e cila ndau edhe këtë përvoj te saj gjatë vizitës në hapsirat tona me këtë shkrim:
"On June 16, 2026 I had the distinct pleasure of visiting the volunteer-led public library in Pirok and was impressed by the library which was clean, bright and had a lot of natural light.
The books were on the shelves and volunteer leader Muhamed Ademi showed me the computer application that will allow members of the public to search for items even when the library is closed. This should help people access more materials because they'll know what the library contains.
The collection could benefit from having the books placed in better order between fiction and nonfiction and by subject category within nonfiction. It is my understanding that Mr. Ademi is currently working on cataloging the collection so the books can be put in order.
In terms of the space and collection the library looks very good. But this library faces a problem that most libraries face - how to keep the library open for users. In a government public library system, funding determines how many hours the library will be open. A volunteer library faces the challenge of scheduling volunteers and ensuring that they consistently open the library.
I suggest having the library open at the same times each week. The key is to have consistency. Once your users understand the schedule they will be more likely to visit the library because they won't have to guess whether it is open.
Finally, there is enough room in the library to host regular programs. These can range from adult lectures to children's story times. The hope is that once people are in the library they'll see the books and begin borrowing them.
I was inspired by what I saw at the Pirok library. It is clear that a lot of love and attention has gone into creating it for the community. The next step is getting regular users and spreading the word. I wish you every success in this endeavor!
