The FOSA English Club extends its warmest congratulations to the President of the University of Antananarivo on his official inauguration.
We particularly welcome the appointment of the new Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, who now leads this field of excellence and hosted this ceremony within the newly inaugurated Amphitheater (NAS).
We also salute the taking of office of the new Heads of Departments and Directors of Doctoral Schools.
This milestone, marking the institution’s 65th anniversary, opens a promising era of modernization for research and higher education. We offer our best wishes for success to the Dean and the entire new leadership team in their projects for scientific excellence.
Congratulations to all these leaders for their commitment to academic achievement.

Let's take a moment to dive into the history and significance of 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴!🦃

📜 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀

In autumn 1621, the Pilgrims at Plymouth and the Wampanoag tribe shared a 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 after a difficult winter. While this was not a formal "Thanksgiving" at the time, but rather a harvest festival, it is from this shared meal, 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲, that the modern Thanksgiving tradition originates.

🍁 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆

Thanksgiving is an occasion to 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 for life's blessings. Families gather, often traveling long distances, to share a traditional meal (turkey, stuffing, pie) 🥧

🌏 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

Thanksgiving is a national holiday in the 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 (fourth Thursday in November) and 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮, but it is also officially celebrated in Liberia and Brazil. Additionally, many countries in Asia (South Korea with Chuseok) and Europe (Germany with Erntedankfest) observe similar harvest festivals based on gratitude.

✨️Two clubs united by one topic: public speaking. ✨️
It was a great honnor to have a joint meeting with CAOFS: Club d'Art Oratoire de la Faculté des Sciences!

Both clubs learned about what a speech is, how to thrive in a speech contest and how to make a compelling speech.

We had the privilege to have Miary Andriamanga as our guestspeaker. Miary is the Winner of the American Corner Speech contest 2025. 🏆She shared her valuable experience during the contest and tips to make great speeches. ✨️

CAOFS taught us how to use vivacity and gestures to impact the audience, all with an amazing positive energy.

Many thanks to Miary Andriamanga and CAOFS for this amazing event!

Orientation Session📚🎉

Yesterday 29th of July, we had an incredible day with our members during our orientation session about English language learning, held at the American Corner Antananarivo. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm and motivation.🤗

📚We shared key tips, useful resources, and effective strategies to help the members make their learning journey as smooth and enriching as possible.✨
And to cap off this session, we organized a small, friendly fair!

We are genuinely grateful to the American Corner Antananarivo for their collaboration, which made this event a success.🤗✨

The first was on Tuesday, July 22nd, and the second was today, Thursday, July 24th.

A huge thank you to the American Corner Antananarivo and Mrs Olivia Raharimina for their collaboration, that made these sessions possible and we are extremely grateful for their support✨🎉
