📌🤝Today, OSCE Mission to Moldova facilitated an online meeting of the Working Group on Road Transportation and Infrastructure, bringing together experts from both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River. The Sides discussed constructively several topical issues, including the operation of the Vehicle Registration Offices in Ribnita and Tiraspol, the prospects of road and bridge repair, and aspects related to driving schools and car insurance.
✅The Mission welcomed the experts’ openness to interact in the interest of people on both banks.

🌿 On Roma Genocide Remembrance Day, the OSCE Mission to Moldova joins the international and local community in honouring the memory of the hundreds of thousands of Roma who were persecuted and murdered in Europe during the Second World War.
🕯️Remembering the Roma Genocide is essential to preserving historical truth, honouring the victims and ensuring that the lessons of the past serve as a safeguard against prejudice, intolerance and violence today.
🤝 In line with OSCE commitments, the OSCE Mission to Moldova supports efforts to promote Holocaust remembrance and education, combat anti-Roma racism and discrimination, and foster equality, inclusion and respect for human rights for all.
☑️ As we join in commemorating the victims, we reaffirm our commitment to contributing to a society where human dignity is respected and everyone can live free from discrimination and hatred.

📌📚From 28 to 30 July, the OSCE Mission to Moldova co-facilitated a second round of consultations to advance the development of the Guide on Integrating Equality and Human Rights Standards into School Textbooks.

👥Building on the outcomes of the first consultations, textbook authors, evaluators and education specialists guided by human rights experts worked together to review and refine the Guide's content. Through collaborative discussions and practical exercises, participants further strengthened recommendations to support the development of a practical resource for education professionals.

✅The consultations addressed key themes, including gender equality, countering hate speech and violence, promoting a culture of tolerance and respect for the rights of ethnic, linguistic and religious communities and persons with disabilities, as well as preventing age-based discrimination. Participants also discussed practical approaches to ensuring that educational materials are inclusive and reflective of human rights principles.

🤝The event was organized in co-ordination with the Ministry of Education and Research of the Republic of Moldova/Ministerul Educației și Cercetării al Republicii Moldova, with guidance and facilitation of Alexandrovici Goloseapov and Lisenco as well as expert contributions from UN Human Rights Moldova, Amnesty International Moldova, Office of the People’s Advocate/Oficiul Avocatului Poporului Moldova and the Equality Council/Consiliul pentru egalitate - Совет по равенству - Equality Council.

✅This event is part of the Mission’s project “Enhancing inclusion and advancement of national minority rights in Moldova,” implemented in view of the efforts to support the development of an inclusive society built on strong mechanisms that foster human rights, a culture of tolerance and trust.

📌The Acting Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova , Izabela Sylwia Hartmann, met today the Transdniestrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky. They discussed key issues in the Transdniestrian settlement process and reviewed a range of topical and pressing issues on the negotiating agenda that affect people on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River.
✅Ms. Hartmann reiterated that the Mission stands ready to work with all sides offering practical solutions to achieve tangible results, and emphasized the need to continue confidence-building efforts.
✅Hartmann welcomed the recent release of Emilian Ceban and Evghenii Pancioha from detention in Tiraspol. She expressed hope for further progress in this area, including continued improvements to the human rights situation and detention conditions for inmates.

The Mission met on Friday with UNFPA Moldova and UN Human Rights Moldova (OHCHR Moldova) to explore new areas of co-operation and build meaningful synergies. With the OSCE’s focus on confidence-building and dialogue facilitation and UNFPA and OHCHR’s expertise in specific human rights areas, we aim to maximize our shared impact.

📌On 18 July, in observance of Nelson Mandela International Day, the OSCE Mission to Moldova reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rights of all people, including those deprived of their liberty. The Mission promotes respect for the rights of detainees on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River, and supports authorities and civil society in upholding international human rights commitments. Compliance with international standards on the treatment of persons in detention remains an obligation for all.

✅Nelson Mandela Rules are a benchmark for good management of detention facilities, emphasizing rehabilitation, fair procedures, adequate conditions, and access to healthcare. Accurate detainee records and well-trained staff help safeguard legal rights and support the rule of law, human dignity, and the values the OSCE promotes across its area of operations.
