Alessandro Giaquinto was born in Scandiano, Italy, and grew up in Reggio Emilia. After beginning his dance education at the private school Progetto Danza in Reggio Emilia and graduating from the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany, he joined The Stuttgart Ballet.
In 2025, he won the Solo Choreography Prize at the annual Premio Roma Danza competition, organised by the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome. As part of this prestigious prize, funded by the Cuomo Foundation, the Italian dancer, choreographer and author was offered a two-week residency, from 2 to 13 November 2026, to study with the ballet company of the National Theatre Košice in Slovakia.
The Cuomo Foundation has supported the Accademia Nazionale di Danza since 2019 and provides full funding for the prizes awarded at the annual Premio Roma Danza competition.

Congratulations to Rosa Pia Sidoti, winner of the “Prix Alfredo Cuomo” at the 2025 International “Premio Roma” Dance Competition, who will travel to Amsterdam next week for a week-long residency. As part of this grant, funded by the Cuomo Foundation, the young Italian ballet student from the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome will take part in a residential programme at ICK, a dance academy directed by Emio Greco (Italy) and Pieter C. Scholten (Netherlands).
The Cuomo Foundation has supported the Accademia Nazionale di Danza since 2019 and provides full funding for the prizes awarded at the annual Premio Roma dance competition.

To celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Cuomo Foundation brought together its partners and beneficiaries in Rome on 23 June 2026 for an evening devoted to youth, held at the National Academy of Dance on the Aventine Hill.

What happens when a sea turtle can no longer reach the ocean?
In Kovalam, Tamil Nadu, India, students from St. Joseph' s Higher Secondary School are learning how sea turtles live, the threats they face and what communities can do to protect them. From beach clean-up activities to conversations with local fishermen, this film shows how education can become practical ocean conservation.
Sea turtles face threats from plastic pollution, fishing gear, habitat loss and the changing health of the ocean. The students' message is simple: protecting marine life begins with understanding our connection to the sea.
This work forms part of a wider commitment to ocean education through the partnership between the Cuomo Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, home of the Musée océanographique de Monaco , through the Oceano for All programme. Together, young people are encouraged to understand marine challenges and turn knowledge into action.
