Gently to Sleep

Gently to Sleep

Hi! I’m Louise and I give parents the tools they need to encourage their children to sleep better.

Ok, so I’m probably going to trigger lots of men here, but this the satirical post I’ve shared below mirrors the reality for sooooooo many women.

Why is is that so often we are the ones solely dealing with multiple night wakings so that our male partners can have a good night of sleep “because they have to work the next day”?

Caring for and raising another helpless human being takes mountains of energy and for this you need MORE sleep than someone who isn’t doing this!

There are ways to manage those early months where nights are broken by a waking baby and there are ways to ease a baby into longer stretches of sleep overnight too.

😤 It shouldn’t always fall to one parent to do.

Message me or comment “SLEEP” below if you’d like to find out how to do this.

A groundbreaking 2025 study published in Science Advances has revealed that while women experience a decline in the number of eggs as they age, the quality of those eggs at the DNA level remains surprisingly stable. In contrast, men’s s***m accumulates genetic mutations over time, making older fathers more likely to pass on DNA errors that can contribute to developmental and neurological conditions in their children.
Researchers found that these s***m mutations increase steadily with age, particularly after 40, while eggs showed minimal DNA damage accumulation. This challenges decades of assumptions about female fertility and aging — and flips the traditional “biological clock” narrative on its head.
The implications are significant: men’s age can influence conception success, pregnancy outcomes, and long-term child health just as much as women’s.
In essence, time affects both sexes — just in very different ways.

Spending one-to-one time with your little one is obviously important, but did you know that WHEN you do this can have a powerful and positive effect on sleep?

So when is this? The hour before bedtime!

This is often a busy time of day for families, especially if there is more than one child in the home. The family is reconnecting after a working/school day, dinner is being prepared, bathtime needs to be done, homework needs to be supervised…it’s very busy and I swear there’s a black hole where the time goes!! You may feel that because you are all together that your child(ren) receive lots of attention, but they may not feel the same.

So how do you resolve this? It’s easy!

Spend just 5-10 minutes one-to-one with your child. Put your phone away, turn off the TV and sit with them. If a baby then spend time playing, cuddling, singing etc. If a preschooler then get on the floor and play a simple game and invite your child to lead the play. Regardless of age, what is really important is EYE CONTACT.

Do this and it will encourage easier settling and reduce the chance of your little one calling to you at bedtime or during the night, not because they don’t know how to fall asleep, but because they need missing connection.

Still struggling with your little one’s sleep? Message me and we can find a way together to change this.
