We’re missing in-class instruction just a little extra this week as our main school in Fez (American School Fez) gets ready for the final week of the 2019-2020 academic year. Below is an image from one of our classes earlier this year that highlights the active approach to language learning that is so foundational to ASLI!

In honor of this weekend’s SpaceX’s launch, we thought we would highlight a space-themed English idiom: “out of this world” (often pronounced “outta this world.”) It means something that is too good to be true or really amazing.
Can you use “out of this world” in an example sentence below?

One of the best ways to master another language is to find material in that taget language that is about something you love or are already interested in. Many people are passionate about the arts, so today, we encourage you to watch the following video from The Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, GA. Curator of Education Dr. Callan Steinmann talks about one of her favorite paintings, “Bacchus #81” by Elaine de Kooning: https://youtu.be/v0NT-P5kVQM.
In the comments below, let us know if there were any words or phrases you didn’t understand. Happy watching!

Ms. Alia Ahmad, ASLI Rabat Program Manager, has some wonderful crafts and projects to try at home with your kids! Leave us a comment below with any ideas you have!
1. Using shavings of old way crayons! Parent supervision with iron required!
2. We made 'magical fairy dust' by mixing bicarbonate of soda with vinegar and glitter and pretty much anything else we could find that was pretty.
3. After a week of the 'seed growing race'. The lentils are firmly ahead, chick peas second and mustard seeds struggling. You can do this too by placing seeds on damp cotton wool— It is that easy. Plus some daily watering.
4. Finally, my calendar craft! It is a work in progress. Nothing like counting down the days of the lockdown and watching the season literally changing.
