Applications are open for Contested Commons: Governing What No One Owns, a four-day Model United Nations at Dar America, Casa Finance City, Casablanca, from 22 to 25 October 2026, organised by Moroccan Youth Diplomats in partnership with the U.S. Mission in Morocco.
Fifty two delegates will be selected from all twelve regions of the Kingdom to debate four frontiers that no single state owns: outer space after the Artemis Accords, the world's maritime chokepoints, the deep seabed and its critical minerals, and the governance of artificial intelligence. On 23 October, delegates travel to Rabat to meet ambassadors and policymakers and put their committee's questions to working diplomats.
The Oriental holds a guaranteed allocation in the cohort, and travel from Oujda or Nador to Casablanca, together with accommodation, is covered for selected delegates who need it. The conference itself is free of charge for everyone, including meals, materials and transport between Casablanca and Rabat.
Selection is open and competitive. Several hundred applications are expected for fifty two seats. Files are anonymised and the deciding vote is held by an external jury of partner representatives, so candidates are judged on substance alone. Financial information is collected separately and is never seen by anyone judging the application.
No prior Model United Nations experience is required. The working language is English.
Applications close on 28 September 2026.
