In only a few hours the very first pictures of the James Webb Space Telescope will be revealed to the universe . To put you in the context we’ve interviewed JWST to let us know more about it alongside its History and its mission .

Aiac Space Club: Heey JWST . Our Moroccan community would like to know more about you . Could you tell us about yourself ?

JWST : Yes sure . So I’m James Webb Space Telescope . I was designed primarily to conduct infrared astronomy (a sub-discipline of astronomy which specializes in the observation and analysis of astronomical objects using infrared (IR) radiation) . I was launched in December 2021 on a European Space Agency and my development mission was done by Nasa in collaboration with ESA and CSA.

Aiac Space Club : Awesome! But I’m curious to know what makes you special ? Throughout history we’ve seen a lot of other space telescopes . So, What’s the difference ?

JWST :I’m the largest space telescope ever built .Compared to Hubble for example the size of my mirror is 6.25 times larger and compared to Hershel Space Observatory my wavelength goes from 0.6 to 28.5 microns while Herschel goes from 60 to 500 microns.

Aiac Space Club : Ooh . How could those characteristics help you ?

JWST: As we all know size is very important in astronomy .Thanks to the large size of my mirror I'll be able to detect radiation from extremely distant objects right back to the early age of the universe and thanks to the range of my wavelength I’ll be able to find the first galaxies to form in the early universe as It is only at infrared wavelengths that we can see the first stars and galaxies forming after the Big Bang

Aiac Space Club : This seems interesting .Could you help us understand more how this could be useful to Humanity ? and why as a Humans should we care about this topic ?

JWST: The images that I’ll be revealing will help you as humans to understand the history of the universe and will answer many questions you have since you were a kid such as : Are the black holes who caused the galaxies to form or the opposite ? What does the inside of a dust cloud look like ? How many planetary systems might be hospitable to life ? and much more !

Aiac Space Club : Wow that’s super exciting! When will we be able to see the first images ?

JWST: Good News . Very soon ! save the time July 12,2022 at 3:30 pm (Morocco time ) It’s on Nasa official website : https://webb.nasa.gov/content/webbLaunch/countdown.html

How would you describe the perfect evening? Watching a TV movie? Reading a good book? We totally agree with these options, but sometimes all you need is to flick through your favorite magazine while lounging on the couch. If the magazine is professional and well-designed, it will definitely stand out from the crowd and the readers will desire to read more !
We are space lovers ! So we will put our knowledge to serve the Moroccan space community with a variety of categories, topic pages, and related articles to space, in order to spread an amount of information to our colleagues, our community and other space enthusiasts around the country !
After some months of work . We are glad to announce that the very 1st edition of our E-MAGAZINE is finally here . Good job team !
This edition was dedicated to know more about our club ( our values , our mission , our previous achievements and our goals ) . Next editions will be dedicated to introducing you to some basics and advanced space topics .

Happy New year !

At Young astronaut Program , one of our duty is to initiate the future generation to the space field .

Every time, we are amazed about how those juniors are fascinated by the stars , however many of them still believe that being an astronaut or working in the space field is only a far dream that they couldn't attend .

This month , the juniors had the opportunity to discover with Us the solar system and its constitutes and how some space passionates just like them helped us to discover many things about it throughout the history starting from proofing that the earth is spherical to trying to find the first galaxies that formed in the early universe and peer through dusty clouds to see stars forming planetary systems with James Web Space Telescope which is launched just yesterday!

We thank our members : IDBOULAID Khadija , HAKKI Ghadir , EL GHAZOUANI Ikram,EL MOURABIT Imane and KIKER Reda for the amazing job done during this session ! Also , we would like to thank Ecoles La Tour Eiffel for the warm welcoming of the program inside their school .

Next month we'll cover a new topic stay tuned to discover it !🌟

If your school would like to initiate its students to the space field or if you are an organization and would like to help us on achieving this mission .🌌

Feel free to contact Abdelhakim Aatafay the head of this program.

Our solar system consists of our star, the Sun, and everything bound to it by gravity – the planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune; dwarf planets such as Pluto; dozens of moons; and millions of asteroids, comets, and meteoroids. Beyond our solar system, there are more planets than stars in the night sky. So far, we have discovered thousands of planetary systems orbiting other stars in the Milky Way, with more planets being found. Most of the hundreds of billions of stars in our galaxy are thought to have planets of their own, and the Milky Way is but one of perhaps 100 billion galaxies in the universe.
This makes us wonder about how was the solar system discovered? how did it come to be? and what is its structure?
For millennia, astronomers have followed points of light that seemed to move among the stars. The ancient Greeks named them planets, meaning "wanderers." Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn were known in antiquity, and the invention of the telescope added the Asteroid Belt, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and many of these worlds' moons. The dawn of the space age saw dozens of probes launched to explore our system, an adventure that continues today.
Five human-made objects so far, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, New Horizons, Pioneer 10, and Pioneer 11, have crossed the threshold into interstellar space.
Our solar system formed about 4.5 billion years ago from a dense cloud of interstellar gas and dust. The cloud collapsed, possibly due to the shockwave of a nearby exploding star, called a supernova. When this dust cloud collapsed, it formed a solar nebula – a spinning, swirling disk of material. Most of the material was pulled toward the center to form the sun. Other particles within the disk collided and stuck together to form asteroid-sized objects named planetesimals, some of which combined to become the asteroids, comets, moons, and planets.
Finally, our planet is in some ways a mere speck in the vast cosmos, we have a lot of company out there. It seems that we live in a universe packed with planets – a web of countless stars accompanied by families of objects, perhaps some with a life of their own. So, let’s discover it!
