One Little Chick,

A wonderful celebration of life following a little chick’s 🐣 journey from mum to egg and becoming a little hatchling. Insightful and gorgeous illustrations of life.

Recently a nursery I had the privilege of working with ordered x3 of this title, which sparked a conversation. They in fact were keeping chickens that laid eggs and was teaching the children to look after and document the journey.

How wonderful, if you have a garden why not do the same!? Teach the lifecycle and rear some homegrown 🐓 chickens! Win win

Now that the 6 weeks holiday is upon us academic learning can stop but this is a wonderful time to open up new opportunities to develop interests, look up summer activities in your area, and find out what your local community has on offer from leisure centres to your local library.

Facilitating reading can look like…you read to your child/ren or them reading to you, you can help facilitate reading by creating a bookshelf specifically with books around their interests and age, make visiting the library a fun way to pick out books and sit down with a coffee to help them build their understanding of the world and vocabulary!

Reading doesn’t just need to be about decoding words, children can simply flick through a book and look at images, each image also presents a story to decode.

For both homeschoolers and children at school reading should be an everyday if not frequent activity for your child/ren.
