🍽️ 1. Oven-Baked Cube Steak with Onion Gravy
📝 Ingredients:
4 cube steaks
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp flour
1 cup beef broth (or chicken broth)
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
🍳 Instructions:
Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare steaks: Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Sear the steaks: In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Brown the cube steaks on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side). Remove the steaks and set aside.
Make the gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute. Slowly add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, until the gravy thickens.
Bake: Return the cube steaks to the skillet, cover with foil, and place in the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the steaks are tender.
Serve: Serve the steaks with plenty of onion gravy. Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or a green vegetable.
