Prof. Tariq Obaide appointed OBE for services to British Education Overseas and UK–Morocco Relations

Prof. Tariq Obaide has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List for services to British education overseas and UK–Morocco relations.

This prestigious honour recognises Prof. Obaide’s outstanding contribution to expanding British education internationally and his prominent role in strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Morocco.

Since founding the British Education Group in 2001, Prof. Obaide has led the organisation to become a pioneer and leading provider of British education in Morocco.

Under his leadership, the BEG has supported more than 5,000 students in achieving British honours degrees from a number of respected UK universities, helping to widen the opportunity to access internationally recognised qualifications for students in Morocco.

“I am deeply humbled and incredibly honoured to receive this recognition from His Majesty King Charles III,” said Prof. Tariq Obaide OBE.

“This award is a testament to the hard work of our entire team at the British Education Group and our valued partners in both the UK and Morocco. Our mission has always been to build strong academic bridges that empower the next generation with internationally recognised skills. This milestone will only strengthen our commitment to expanding high-quality British education and deepening bilateral cultural and educational relations.”

The award reflects Prof. Obaide’s long-standing dedication to education, partnership and international collaboration, and marks a proud moment for the British Education Group and its wider community across Morocco and the United Kingdom.
