After a final few days of exploring Botanical Gardens, Merdeka Square and a number of shopping malls within Kuala Lumpur, we have now returned home to England after an amazing adventure!
A huge well done to our students on this expedition who have conducted themselves brilliantly, and a big thank you to our world challenge leader Frank to help to give us a truly memorable time whilst we were in Malaysia! 🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾

Kuala Lumpar (Part 2)

We have had an action packed day in Kuala Lumpar today!
Leaving the hostel this morning, we have been out from 9:30am until 11:30pm visiting some of the main sites in "the big KL".
We started with a train journey to the Batu Caves, a sacred site for Hindus on the outskirts of KL. Famed for its colourful steps and wild monkeys, we made the journey up to see the temple within.

After this, we took the metro into the city centre to visit the aquarium, seeing a range of different animals!

Finally, a group of our team watched the light show outside the Petronas towers before going up the the viewing platform 340m up to see the skyline of Kuala Lumpar!

It was a truly fantastic day and we are looking forward to our last few days before returning home on Saturday evening!

Taman Negeri Rompin National Park

Over the past 3 days, the team has taken part in arguably their toughest challenge yet.

On day 1, we arrived in the rainforest and immediately got to grips with how to cook using camping stoves, set up tents and then went on a night walk in search for wildlife such as scorpions poisonous frogs and venomous snakes (all of which we saw on the journey)!🐸🐍🦂

On day 2 we woke up early to set out on an arduous task which involved climbing up steep terrain looking at the native plants, before returning to camp and setting off in the afternoon on another trek looking for wildlife. We were extremely lucky as we were able to see an elephant in wild from only 20 feet away and continue to track it through the jungle! 🐘

Our final day was filled with more adventure as we were able to walk down to a lagoon to see the fishes swimming in the water, wade through the shallows of the river and see a majestic waterfall up close!
The day was capped off with football matches against the local Malaysian staff at the rainforest centre and a 3 hour guitar session with everyone getting involved and enjoying their time in the jungle.⚽️🎸

We have now returned to Kuala Lumpur for the last few days of this incredible expedition!! 🌃

Turtle conservation project

Over the last few days we have been taking part in a conservation project in Malacca.

We have been warmly welcomed in the community, taking part in cooking sessions making local curry puffs and Banana Chips, participating in local customs such as art and cultural dress and dancing, and been able to support with Beach Cleans and the upcycling process used to make merchandise from recycled.

A big highlight for students was getting to see the turtle conservation, getting up close to the turtles and some of the baby hatchlings.
We have also supported with counting the hatchlings and eggs laid by turtles on the beach!

We live here tomorrow with some great memories, ready for our trek tomorrow in the rainforest!

Malacca

Over the last few days we explored the coastal City Of Malacca, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Students experienced cultural sites such as looking over the city from Saint Paul's Church, the A Famosa fort and exploring the shore front.

Free time spent either shopping in the malls, playing volleyball in the park with some of the locals and getting a well-earned slushy from 7-Eleven.

In the evening we went to the shore Sky Tower where students all completed an Escape Room and also got to see the city at night from the top of the Observation Deck.

We are now at the turtle conservation project and we'll be uploading a few posts about what we are doing each day here.

Kuala Lumpur (Part 1)
Our first full day in Malaysia was extremely action packed!
We started the day by finding a place for breakfast before heading off on a walk 21 of the local Chinese temples.
We then continued to walk towards Chinatown and the markets, before heading back to our hostel for some rest (and a game of football)!

In the evening, we took the metro to Petronas Twin Towers, before heading to a nine storey megamall for dinner.

We will be returning to Kuala Lumpur at the end of our trip.
