The final day in Marrakesh involved a trip to the Souks for some last-minute bargains and an excellent final celebratory meal at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the city. It really gave perspective on what the students had achieved this trip and also how busy the city around us was!
A massive thank you to World Challenge and our Leader George, who was fantastic throughout our trip! Well done to all the students for their hard work and conduct throughout the trip as well!
Now, it's time for some well-earned rest for the remainder of the holidays!

After the trek, we travelled to the coastal town of Essaouira, known for its beach, fishing culture and city walls.
On the first day, the group enjoyed going to the markets and having some independence to see what they could buy, with a lot of football shirts being purchased! We then had a wander to go and sit on the city walls.
On the second day, we celebrated a birthday, went to the beach, played pool, visited the markets again, enjoyed a fish burger and ended the day watching the sunset at the port!
A pretty jam-packed few days before heading back to Marrakesh to end the trip!

Days 3 and 4: starting at 2200m we set off at 4am to hike up through the pass at 3400m elevation. Views at the top were stunning and everyone successfully completed the challenging hike on difficult terrain both uphill and down. On our 4th day, we set off early again hiking 16km on an off road dirt track weaving the mountains and battling very severe heat throughout the day. We eventually reached our final destination in the village of setti fatma, where we were able to wash in the river and share a final delicious meal with our World Challenge ground team to celebrate our success.
A huge thank you to our guide Mohammed and Omar with his mule (named tesco) for their support on our journey.

Day 2 was a lighter walking day where we got to visit a local water fall. Everyone enjoyed cooling off in the 37⁰C heat, However this was followed by a football game on a local pitch. After this we made our way back to camp, in preparation for the most challenging day on the trek, climbing a high altitude pass.

Day 1 of the trek, starting at 5am. Students got the opportunity to get used to the terrain of the coming days. We were rewarded with the amazing views of the high Atlas Mountains. We arrived in Tachdirt, the highest altitude village in North Africa.

Yesterday we finished the final community initiative project which was the mural across a building.
All students had a brilliant time and were enjoying covering each other in paint. A few students helped paint the main logo of the school association.
Today we arrived at Imlil for a relaxing day before we set off for our 4 day expedition tomorrow morning.

First part of the World Challenge trip to Morocco completed!
The group was briefed on the plans for the initiative and got stuck in with the tasks, which included painting knocking down a wall and cleaning the streets. Also, the students got to interact with the local children by playing a friendly football match, and gifts donated to the local community.
