Six Senses International Preschool

Plants and flowers was the topic in Cats group for May. Besides planting and gardening children really enjoyed looking for plants in our yard, finding real colours, collecting flowers and plants, making craft and tea from them. Children learned a lot about the structure of plants and trees, practiced maths and language integrated in all processes.

🏖 July 17-21 "Up and away!" - Bubble art, rocket craft, blowing bubbles, watch feathers and fabric float, Hot air balloon festivals around the world
🏖 July 24-28 "Let’s get moving" - Healthy cooking, indoor and outdoor sports games, play with water and ice, craft
🏖 August 31-4 "Food and drinks"- Cooking activities, planting and harvesting, healthy and junk food, “how much sugar is it” project.
🏖 August 7-11 "Sand and water"- Sensory water play (what sinks/floats), bubbles, water and sand inhabitants, water conditions craft from plasticine
🏖 August 14-18 "Treasure" - Orientation activities, how to read a map, making coins, World map, pirates
🏖 August 21-25 "Inventors"- Science experiments, slime making, volcano eruption, creating own invention.

Inspired by the upcoming festive days in Latvia Cats group's students devoted the day to the craft and science project. They discovered about the process of colouring eggs, of necessity to use vinegar, which smell was not pleasant at all 😅 Students did the colour mixing experiments and had fun and joy bringing self made baskets with eggs home.

Students were speaking about the theme artist Henri Matisse and the collages. In thoughts of the upcoming topic "Animals" and inspired by the well known Henri Matisse collage "Snail" students made bright springy art works.

This week students from Cats group were revising everything they learnt about Animals. They went on the field trip to Riga zoo to observe the Farm animals and Safari animals as well as some Water animals in real life. Everyone was lookinf forward to meeting the giraffe and see his long-long neck 🥰

It is the best time to start planting. Getting preschoolers involved in gardening allows them to experience plant care and nourish a responsible, consistent and positive attitude towards hard work. When gardening we try growing plants that possess sensory and textural qualities. Touch, smell, taste, sound and sight are senses involved in learning about science and nature.

Welcome to our mixed age group- Cats. During the last few weeks students were busy discovering one of the most serious topics of the year- space. First teacher collected the questions from the students and ones she prepared to be discovered. Then students learned about the space, the solar system and planets through different kind of activities including reading, maths, science, arts, crafts, cooking and music.

"Love is the best ingredient for a happy life". Students in all groups celebrated the day of love and friendship learning how to express ones feelings, make compliments and be kind to each other.❤️

Outdoor classes can be organised not only in summer or in "good weather". There is no bad weather for the outside time, especially for the seasonal activities. This week Bugs group had an outdoor art class "Colorful Crystals", have a look how great it is!
