Become a Student Buddy for our International Degree and Exchange Students!
Would you like to help our incoming international students settle into Riga, Latvia, and the Academy’s study environment?
By supporting incoming international students joining us this autumn term, you will have the opportunity to make new friends, enhance your language skills, join our international student community, discover new cultures, and create unforgettable memories — whether through organising and attending events or exploring Riga and Latvia together.
Every year, we welcome international degree and exchange students from various countries. Many of them need a helping hand, particularly during their first few months in Latvia.
A Student Buddy is a current student who meets and supports newly arrived international students as they adjust to our country, campus, and way of life.
As a Student Buddy, you can:
• help international students settle into a new environment and meet new people from day one;
• guide them through campus life and show them around Riga;
• provide practical assistance with daily tasks, public transport tickets, opening bank accounts, shopping, study timetables, and internal systems;
• share your study tips to help them navigate academic life;
• keep them in the loop regarding student events and activities.
We will hold a meeting for all registered Student Buddies to exchange ideas and plan joint activities.
As a Student Buddy, you should be available to support your assigned group from the Welcome and Orientation Week onwards.
Welcome and Orientation Week will take place from 7th to 11th September 2026 for both undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and postgraduate (Master’s) students.
Your attendance on the first day of Welcome and Orientation Week - including a brief self-introduction - is mandatory.

For the third consecutive year, the Baltic International Academy (BIA) hosted its Summer School as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme. 🎓✨

📌 Topic: From Regulation to Innovation: Applying the European Accessibility Act (EAA 2025) to Business, Tourism, Law, and Media

Our partner university – Eurasia International University (Armenia) – invites you to take part in the Jean Monnet Summer School “The EU’s Green Deal Beyond the EU: Geopolitics, Policies, Cooperation, and Development”, which will take place from 27 July to 7 August 2026 in Yerevan, Armenia, alongside the integrated International Youth Simulation of Biodiversity COP17 (5–7 August 2026).
Within the framework of the programme, applications are invited for:
✓ the Jean Monnet Summer School “The EU’s Green Deal Beyond the EU: Geopolitics, Policies, Cooperation, and Development” (27 July-7 August 2026, organised by Eurasia International University), with the integrated
✓ The International Youth Simulation of Biodiversity COP17, co-organised by Eurasia International University and Raoul Wallenberg Institute, will take place in Yerevan, Armenia.
This interdisciplinary programme bridges EU Studies, biodiversity governance, human rights, peace and resilience studies, sustainability governance, and science-policy interaction.
The Summer School will explore the external implications of the European Green Deal and the environmental dimension of EU external action through lectures, expert meetings, study visits, and policy-oriented discussions.
The COP17 Simulation will offer participants the opportunity to engage in:
• multilateral negotiations
• policy drafting and diplomacy
• coalition-building and stakeholder dialogue
• crisis-response scenarios
• youth-led environmental governance discussions
Participants will take on the roles of country delegates, scientists and experts, civil society representatives, media observers, Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities and youth advocates.
The main themes include environmental human rights, biodiversity finance, climate adaptation and ecosystem restoration, science-policy interaction, inclusive governance, and synergies between the Rio Conventions and other areas of international law.
The programme corresponds to 6 ECTS credits: 4 ECTS for the Summer School and 2 ECTS for the Simulation.
Participation is free of charge. The organisers provide a limited number of accommodation possibilities for students from the regions of Armenia and international participants.

Šodien oficiāli sākās mūsu Erasmus+ BIP vasaras skola “From Regulation to Innovation: Applying the European Accessibility Act (EAA 2025) to Business, Tourism, Law, and Media”. Pirmajā tiešsaistes dienā kopā pulcējās studenti no dažādām valstīm un universitātēm, lai uzsāktu kopīgu ceļojumu piekļūstamības, ilgtspējas un inovāciju pasaulē.
Diena sākās ar iedvesmojošu lekciju, ko vadīja Dr. Irsida Dinoshi (Albānija), iepazīstinot dalībniekus ar ESG principiem, ilgtspēju, risku vadību un atbildīgu uzņēmējdarbību.
Savukārt Ieva Fedorenko un Mairita Jaunašane no Syncmer Latvia dalījās pieredzē par piekļūstama satura veidošanu praksē. Studenti uzzināja vairāk par audioaprakstu, SDH subtitriem un to, kā uzņēmumi rada saturu, kas ir pieejams pēc iespējas plašākai auditorijai.
Īpašs prieks bija redzēt studentu aktivitāti, jautājumus un pirmās starptautiskās diskusijas.
Un tas ir tikai sākums! Jau pavisam drīz tiksimies Rīgā, lai turpinātu mācīties, diskutēt un kopīgi meklēt risinājumus pieejamākai nākotnei.



Today we officially launched our Erasmus+ BIP Summer School “From Regulation to Innovation: Applying the European Accessibility Act (EAA 2025) to Business, Tourism, Law, and Media.”
Students from different countries joined us online for the first day of our international learning journey.
We started with an inspiring lecture by Irsida Dinoshi (Albania), who introduced participants to ESG, sustainability, risk management, and responsible business practices.
Later, Ieva Fedorenko and Mairita Jaunasane from Syncmer, one of the leading accessibility and localisation companies in Latvia, shared how accessible content is created in practice. Students learned about audio description, SDH subtitling, and how accessibility is becoming an essential part of modern media and business.
The most exciting part? Seeing participants actively asking questions, sharing ideas, and already building new international connections.
And this is only the beginning. Very soon, we will meet in Riga to continue learning, exploring, and discussing accessibility together.

Ranking of Latvian universities by graduate employment

Choosing a university is an investment in the future. Some students focus on salaries, others dream of a scientific career, while some want to study closer to home with the option to change their field after a year or two. At the same time, every university promises it all.

TVNET+ analyzed data from the Ministry of Education and Science and the State Revenue Service (VID) to identify which Latvian universities truly lead in graduate employment.
In this ranking, the Baltic International Academy ranks 1st among private universities.

This indicator shows the share of graduates who are employed. For example, if 80 out of 100 graduates are working, the employment rate is 80%.

Welcome and Orientation Week 2025/2026

This is a reminder for our incoming international degree and exchange students that the Welcome and Orientation Week will take place from 02.02-06.02.2026.

Starting studies at a higher education institution is an important milestone. The programme has been designed to support students in their transition by providing essential information about the Academy, preparing them for their studies, and offering opportunities to meet peers and begin building their academic and social networks.

The Welcome and Orientation Week will be delivered in a blended format (online and on campus).

We look forward to welcoming you to the Academy.
