Networking Social 2017 19/12/2017

Exactly one week ago the annual Networking Social event organised together with Stockholm School of Economics in Riga Student Association welcomed top-performing and most active students of Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and major partners and sponsors of SSER student community.

The event was organized in the spirit of Leif Mutén who once wished SSE Riga students: "That they would look at SSE Riga as a big chance in life. Work hard and establish contacts. Be open to opportunities."

We would like to say thank you to the evening's great guest speakers Krists Avots and Kristaps Siliņš, as well as all participants.

Valts Feldbergs: 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei - Leif Mutén Society 30/10/2017

"The week of competition was one of the best weeks of my life and it has made me speechless as I gained so much experience I just cannot describe."
We continue with another story from the Summer Universiade. This time Valts shares his experience from Taipei and introduces a different perspective - how it is to take part in the swimming competition.

Valts Feldbergs: 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei - Leif Mutén Society After “interesting” thirteen-hour flight and huge jet lag I was finally here, in Taipei. With no idea, what to expect I stepped my foot off the plane and went where signs showed me to go. When some of the long hallways in the airport were gone, a couple of Chinese girls stood there with huge

Leif Mutén: Letter by Anders Paalzow - Leif Mutén Society 23/10/2017

Two weeks ago you had a chance to get to know more about the life of Leif Mutén, but we have another story to share. The letter by Anders Paalzow will reveal how the former rector of Stockholm School of Economics in Riga influenced the development of the university and implemented three core values that have remained significant until this day!

Leif Mutén: Letter by Anders Paalzow - Leif Mutén Society When Leif came to Riga in August 1997 to take up the position as Rector of SSE Riga, he had already retired twice. First from the International Monetary Fund and then from the Stockholm School of Economics (in Stockholm), where he had held a professorship in international tax law. It was, however, n...

Elizabete Dikmane: 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei - Leif Mutén Society 17/10/2017

"I am sure that so far it was the event of my lifetime and I would never take back the effort I spent to get there. "

This summer Elizabete with the help of Leif Mutén Society fulfilled her dream and participated in the Summer Universiade in Taipei. You can read about it in the most recent blog post!

Elizabete Dikmane: 29th Summer Universiade in Taipei - Leif Mutén Society They say that the dream of every athlete is participating in the Olympic games. Clearly, that is a target I could never achieve parallel to studies in SSE Riga or in my life at all whatsoever, but, during this summer I got as close to the dream as I could. In terms of prestige, scale

Leif Mutén: Letter by Margareta Eklöf - Leif Mutén Society 09/10/2017

"It must have made an unforgettable impression when he began his welcoming speech in September 1997 by singing Noel Cowards well-known song “Let’s fall in love” with the line “Lithuanians and Letts do it”. I don’t suppose anybody had ever heard anything like it from a man in his position and approaching 70."

Leif Mutén, the founder of the Society, was more than a rector of SSE Riga - take your time to read the story of a man who shaped the university and was a true inspiration for students.

Leif Mutén: Letter by Margareta Eklöf - Leif Mutén Society Leif Mutén was born September 16, 1928. The family lived in a Stockholm suburb and after elementary school he continued at a school in the city. Strangely enough we used to vote in his former class room many decades afterwards. In 1941 his father was appointed to a position further north, in Härnösa...
