👏👏👏 Demola 2023 Autumn season has been finished, and the four teams gain their recognition.
🏢One of the teams, together with Valsts nekustamie īpašumi - the largest real estate supervisor in Latvia - looked into some brand new ideas on how to combat the inevitable consequences of winter in the form of snow cover on rooftops and icicles, that endanger the by-passers.
🚀Let us wait and see, how the ideas are tested and implemented in the real life!

The aim of this Demola challenge is to identify avenues for guiding consumers towards healthier lifestyles via nutrition 🍒🥑🧄. These avenues encompass tools or models that empower a wider community to proactively embrace healthier living through their dietary choices.
👉 We welcome approaches that maintain consumer engagement, integrate incentivizing mechanisms, and also tackle challenges related to affordability, accessibility, and education in this realm, including equipping individuals to make more informed choices, related to health and/or sustainability.

Mobile silos are intended for use in construction 🏗 sites, filled with ready-to-use building mixtures. They are paired with a mixer or a plastering machine that requires a certain capacity of electrical power.
The goal ⛳️ of this challenge, given by the well-known Latvian company Sakret, is to find an alternative energy solution as an opportunity to carry out construction work in places where electrical power is not available.

ℹ Here is a Demola challenge in a true 1st of September spirit - to increase the amount of the students!
Many universities are not adapted to the needs of students who are balancing many roles and commitmentsc 👩🦸🤱. This relates to program design or student/campus services that run in “normal” business hours.
👉 There is a potential to increase the number of mature-age students and also their learning outcomes and results by addressing their needs. What and how the universities should adapt to attract more mature-age students and meet their needs?

Research digital 📲 solutions that would allow the detection of unforeseen situations and observe the surroundings of buildings, and that can sustainably and effectively maintain and upkeep the building and its surroundings without the involvement of human resources on a daily basis!
🕍 This Demola challenge, given by Valsts nekustamie īpašumi,allows you to work on a very important topic with one of the largest managers of Latvia's land and buildings assets.

Cities 🏭 are centers of innovation and wealth creation but also hotspots for noise and air pollution, heat island effects, and lack of green space, all influencing human health and well-being.
👉 Also Riga, the capital of Latvia as the biggest city of Latvia, needs to adapt and also needs data, for example, on air quality to tackle the problems. What opportunities and innovative ideas could be pursued to create cities more livable? What is the potential of nature to be an adaptation tool?

“Every year, Demola Latvia student teams appear stronger 💪 and stronger,” says Līva Stūrmane, the mentor of Demola Latvia, adding that it is a true delight “to see such intelligent, passionate and capable students that wish to bring their ideas and prototypes to the next level.”
👉This semester, 8 student teams were looking for innovative solutions to 8 different challenges, starting from changes made by and due to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), to the necessary steps that need to be taken regarding problems with textile waste and society’s mental health.
