Big ideas need fresh minds 🌱🧠
🙏 Thank you .mikelsone for energising us on the opening of with an ideation fitness 💡💪 Elīna is a creativity expert and innovation coach and she said: "Everyone can create great ideas, all they need are the right methods". 📚 Look for idea creation and idea management methods and say NO to devils advocates, who bring your ideas down. 🙏
To keep your ideas fresh, remember to have healthy snacks, such as .bio who were kind enough to give their superfood energy to the participants of 💥
Elīna tested the smoking paprika Kale chips, they were surprisingly ''hot'', and the Kale chips with garlic - surprisingly delicious! "Although I'm usually not a fan of garlic - but here the garlic flavor was very complementary!" 😋🧄

🚨 Meet the hackathon winners – Team “Zibens Makvīns”! 🏆
Their innovative idea involves using unmanned drones to reduce fatal traffic accidents and improve road safety. 🚗💥➡️🚁
The winning team includes students from the University of Latvia (LU) and Riga Technical University (RTU):
Kaspars Šenkovskis (RTU, Electronics)
Renārs Laviņš (LU, Physics)
Pēteris Pauls Krakops (RTU, Computer Systems)
Kārlis Kalniņš (RTU, Mechatronics)
🌟 Idea Overview: Unmanned drones would monitor and detect reckless driving, reducing accidents by encouraging safer behavior. 🚙💨 They would send real-time data to responders, helping decrease fatalities. 🚑 These police-owned drones would collect crucial accident data, patrol unpredictably to avoid detection by apps like Waze, and use solar power for off-grid areas. ☀️ They can also be relocated based on accident rates.
👨💻 Team members shared that participating in the hackathon was a valuable experience. The hardest part was coming up with a concrete idea, and once they had it, presenting it in a short pitch was even more challenging. 📊 It felt easier to provide a 20-page technical description of the solution! 😅

There are only three winners, but as the hackathon jury representatives said: the true winners are not just those who received prizes, but everyone who worked hard and created innovative ideas to improve road safety in Latvia and reduce the number of fatal accidents. 🚗✨
Thank you to everyone who participated! Huge thanks to our supporters, mentors, and jury! 🙌

At the “24h Road Safety Hackathon” organized by the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), the winning team was “Zibens Makvīns”, whose idea focuses on reducing fatal traffic accidents using autonomous drones. 🚁✨
The second-place team, “On Track,” presented a traffic safety solution involving animated road projections to prevent accidents. 🎥🚦
In third place, the team “Virtual Riga” proposed the concept “Play Minecraft and Get Home Safely!” Their solution used the video game Minecraft to teach traffic safety principles, especially targeting the younger generation. 🎮👾
Additionally, two teams received special prizes from hackathon supporters:
“Virtual Riga” received awards from both Kristaps Muzikants, head of Ignitis Group Latvija, and Vents Strautmanis, chairman of
Printstone Innovations and Boards You.
The team “Created for Safe Movement” won a prize from CARGURU.LV for their solution focused on making people with functional disabilities—such as visual, auditory, or mobility impairments—more visible in the dark. 🌙🌟
