SSE Riga Debate Society

Our Debate Society members just wrapped up an incredible experience at EuropAgora 2025 in Strasbourg! 🇫🇷

Over two days 340 participants from EU member states stepped into the shoes of Members of the European Parliament in order to discuss, exchange views, debate and propose bills around various political, economic, or social topics.

A huge congratulations to our associate Anna Marta Ozere for being recognized as one of the best speakers!!!

We look forward to returning next year! 🇪🇺🗣️

On December 14–15, we welcomed more than 90 participants for the annual SSE Riga IV: Part 24!
We are deeply grateful to everyone who took part and contributed to the success of this event.

Special recognition goes to our CAs Victor Bervoets, Ellie Middleton, and Rick Tan, without whom the event would not have been possible!

We also want to thank our Tabmaster Martin Küüsmaa, for keeping everything running smoothly, and our Equity Officer, Alise Kuzmina, for ensuring a fair and welcoming environment for all!

The SSE Riga Debate Society is expanding!!! ⚡️ This year, we have welcomed 32 new members who are eager to learn and contribute, bringing us to total of 72 members!

This weekend over 80 participants gathered at Stockholm School of Economics in Riga for the eighth SSE Riga PRO-AM!

We are deeply grateful to everyone who took part, with special thanks to our fantastic CAs Heleriin Ots and Hunter Neary! The event would not have been possible without you!

A big thank you also to our tabmaster Elīza Beta Kalve and our equity officer, Alise Kuzmina, for their vital contributions!

Congratulations to the winners of this tournament Laura Serafine Pilmark and Alisa Popova, who came all the way from Copenhagen representing the Copenhagen Debating Society!

The Gold Final would not have been as exciting without the other finalists: SSE Riga Masterdebaters (Klāvs Tračums & Lotte Tõnupärt), SSE Riga/RV3G growth mindset (Anna Marta Ozere & Beāte Jēkabsone) and SSE Riga/UT Perses iela (Sten Martin Kabrits & Arp Harald Tamm)!

The silver final was claimed by Kaspar Noor and Amanda Vaarmann!

Arp Harald Tamm earned the Best PRO Speaker title, while Alisa Popova won Best AM Speaker. Lastly, a special shout-out to our most highly-rated adjudicator, Raman Gelkov!

But thank you all for participating and being part of this incredible community—we cannot wait to see you next year!

This weekend, more than 80 participants gathered at Stockholm School of Economics in Riga for the first EVER Baltic IV, and we couldn't be more excited!🥳

We are truly proud that debaters all of the world, whether it be Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Romania, USA, UK, Ukraine, we thank all of you for being here at the very start. Thanks to our marvelous CAs Helena Hecke and Valeriu Carasel, tabmaster Martin Küüsmaa and a wonderful equity team of Lukas Eigėlis and Kayla Powers, we experienced two days of interesting motions, and high-quality debates.

Congratulations to the winners of the tournament: Tartu A comprising of Tanel Mütt and Kristjan Suuder! And a superb final requires superb finalists: Berlin A (Felix Reischl & Agata Konopka), Bucharest AV (Vlad Pop & Arina Dumitru) & 7-11 was an inside job (Heleriin Ots & Hunter Neary). The Novice Finals were won by Ekke Henk and Johanna Lisette Rohtma (öötöö).

The best speaker of the tournament was this time shared by both Heleriin Ots and Kristjan Suuder. The best novice speaker was Sergey Shkolnikov.

We are truly excited for the Baltic IV to continue for many more years to come, and are even more excited to meet you all there - next year, in Tallinn!✨

Dear fellow debaters, we are thrilled to announce that SSE Riga in cooperation with Estonian and Lithuanian debate societies is hosting the first ever Baltic IV, which will take place on 27-28 April! 🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹

Not only will you have the chance to debate against experienced and aspiring debaters, but also get a glimpse of the beautiful and history enriched city of Riga!

Registration will open tomorrow, so do not hesitate and join us for a weekend of good debates and lively competition!

To ensure a fair competition, we are looking for experienced CA’s and IA’s! IA registration is already open and the link for it can be found in the event.
