RTU Experts Contribute to Advancing Digital Competencies through NextGenerationEU Project
Riga Technical University (RTU), in collaboration with the University of Latvia and Riga Stradins University, is participating in the NextGenerationEU project No. 2.3.1.1.i.0/1/22/I/CFLA/003 “Development of High-Level Digital Skills in Latvia in the Field of High-Performance Computing” The initiative aims to strengthen advanced digital competencies among students and industry professionals. Within the project, experts from the former CAD Department have developed a new study module as part of the university-level course Machine Element Parametric Modeling, focusing on enhancing participants’ practical skills in SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling, assembly design, technical drawing documentation, and simulation with HPC assistance.
During the project, 103 students successfully obtained certificates confirming proficiency in DigComp Level 7 and Level 8, while 20 participants additionally achieved the internationally recognized CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) certification. The course was also made available to representatives from industry, resulting in 16 professionals completing the program and acquiring advanced digital competencies. The training emphasized the practical application of High-Performance Computing (HPC) resources for solving complex simulation and engineering design tasks, thereby strengthening collaboration between higher education, research, and industry, and contributing to the development of a highly skilled digital workforce in Latvia.
