12 July, 2014 Female choir BALTA, conductor Māra Marnauza from Latvia took part in Champion Competition of World Choir Games 2014 in Riga in the Female choir category, winning Gold medal with 91,25 points (Gold medals: 80,01 – 100,00). That is the second best result, beating other choirs from Latvia, Finland and Canada. Female choir from Denmark "Aarhus Pigekor" became the Champions at this category with 92,63 points. Looking forward for the results of Volve Vokal (Greetings, dear Thea Meidell Sjule) from Bergen! Good luck!

The European capitals of culture in 2014 are Riga in Latvia and Umeå in Sweden. Dear, colleagues in Sweden, special greetings for you! In the picture - Chamber choir FORTIUS, conductor prof. Mara Marnauza in one of the opening events - "The Path of Light action – Chain of Book Lovers" 18.01.2014. This action of the people, in which books from the old building of the National Library of Latvia are passed from hand to hand to the new building on the other bank of the Daugava river, is one of the 2014 inaugural events.
