Curiosity, creativity, and the human body!

Grade 4 visited the Pauls Stradiņš Medicine History Museum as part of our “Who We Are” unit of inquiry, exploring human body systems.

During “The Mystery of Leonardo da Vinci’s Skeleton” tour, students took a closer look at the skeletal system and discovered how Leonardo da Vinci investigated the human body.

Our curious learners asked plenty of questions, joined discussions, and shared their knowledge. They even stepped into Leonardo’s shoes, creating skeletons in their own artistic styles!

💻 Computer Science joins our IB Diploma Programme!

Did you know that around 30% of our graduates choose university programmes related to IT and technology?

From Data Science and Web Development to Information Technology, many of our students continue their studies in fields shaping the future. That is why we are excited to introduce Computer Science as a new subject in our IB Diploma Programme.

Students will develop computational thinking, programming and problem-solving skills while learning how computer systems work and how technology can be applied to real-world challenges.

The subject will be taught by Amit Joshi, who brings together university teaching, academic research and more than 15 years of IT industry experience. His work explores areas including AI, machine learning and big data.

Another opportunity for our students to explore their interests, build future-ready skills and turn their ambitions into reality. 🚀

A confident start to school begins before Grade 1. 🌱

International School Premjers invites children aged 5–6 to join our IB PYP School Readiness Programme, created especially for future Grade 1 students.

Twice a week, children will become familiar with school routines, learning in English and the IB PYP approach through English, Mathematics, Arts & Crafts, Inquiry, Science and Social Studies.

The programme helps children develop early literacy and numeracy skills, independence, communication, curiosity and confidence before starting school.

We are proud to share that International School Premjers has achieved 17th place in Latvia’s School Olympiad Ranking in the small schools category "for schools with fewer than 150 students".

And there is even more to celebrate: we ranked 2nd among private schools in our category! 🎉

This achievement reflects the knowledge, determination and hard work of our students, together with the dedication of our teachers who support and inspire them along the way.

We are proud of this result, but we are already looking ahead. Our goal for this academic year: TOP 10.

ORIENTATION WEEK 2026 | IB PYP 🌟

What a wonderful way to begin a new school year at International School Premjers!
During our Orientation Week 2026, our students had time to reconnect, get to know their classmates and teachers, build relationships, and prepare for a new year of learning together.

One of the week’s challenges turned our 3rd graders into young engineers!
Using only marshmallows and toothpicks, the pupils were challenged to build the tallest and most stable tower they could — one strong enough to survive our very own mini “earthquake” created by shaking the table!
But the real purpose of the activity went far beyond building a tower.

The children were learning how to face challenges, solve problems, experiment with different ideas, collaborate, and keep trying when something did not work the first time.
The challenge also gave our students an opportunity to practise skills that are at the heart of the IB PYP: listening to one another, sharing ideas, making decisions together, dividing responsibilities, solving problems, learning from mistakes, and celebrating success as a team. 🤝
And we had one more very special reason to celebrate this week! 🎂🎈

We finished our Orientation Week by celebrating the 2nd birthday of our little PYP school!
In just two years, our PYP community has grown, learned, explored and achieved so much together. This birthday feels especially meaningful as we begin our first school year as an authorized IB World School for the Primary Years Programme.

AI + Human Intelligence: Smarter Together! 🤖💡

On 2 September, our MYP students took part in an Orientation Day focused on a question that will matter throughout the school year: how can we use AI to support learning without giving up our own thinking?

Working in mixed-age teams, students explored AI through five activity stations: checking the reliability of AI advice, creating prompts, discussing academic honesty, testing predictions in chemistry experiments, and exploring how AI can act as a learning tool rather than simply provide ready-made answers.

The day was also a great opportunity to meet students from other year groups, collaborate and begin the year with the habits of questioning, reflection and independent learning that are central to the IB Middle Years Programme.

A joyful start to the 2026–2027 school year at IS Premjers! 💙

On 1 September, our PYP and MYP community came together to celebrate last year’s achievements, look back on summer through Summer Through Our Eyes, and welcome new students and staff.

We also introduced this year’s charity partner, Bērnu slimnīcas fonds, and shared a particularly special moment as our Grade 9 students warmly welcomed the school’s new first graders before the ceremonial first bell rang. 🔔

A strong start to the new school year for our DP students 💙

On 1 September, our DP1 and DP2 students came together for a joint Opening Homeroom Assembly.

Working in mixed groups, they got to know each other, explored key Diploma Programme requirements and discussed important deadlines ahead. DP2 students also shared practical advice from their own experience, from managing workloads and asking for support to finding balance beyond school.

For DP1, it was a chance to learn from those already on the journey. For DP2, an opportunity to reflect, share and support the next cohort.

A great way to begin the year together! ✨
