Already the 6th group of the in Innovation Management, offered by Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA and delivered by SSE Riga, has kicked off!

💡 The start of the programme with the module “Keep People Imagining: Creative Thinking + Innovation”, led by lecturer Yoad Mick, was dynamic, and let’s just say expectations (and imagination) were immediately upgraded. From rethinking their businesses to reflecting on their personalities, this group didn’t waste a minute. Safe to say that big ideas are already in motion.

This programme is implemented under the ERDF project "Development of Innovative Entrepreneurship of SMEs."

Our EMBA students’ journey in Singapore has officially begun! ✈️

Every spring, our students travel to Singapore for an intensive study week, starting with sessions at the top-tier Nanyang Business School. Throughout the week, they take part in business discussions, company visits, and networking opportunities, alongside time to explore the city beyond study hours.

For more than 10 years, we’ve worked with our course director Sapna Advani to design the Singapore programme, so participants gain as much insight as possible into Southeast Asia and its business environment.

More updates coming next week.

💡 Interested in joining the next EMBA class at SSE Riga? The application deadline is June 1. Find out more here https://www.sseriga.edu/education/executive-mba or contact Inga Sprinke at [email protected]

When almost every other week brings new surprises and “uncertain times” feels like the forever standard phrase, few investments hold up better than the one you make in yourself. 👌

Sanctions are a term we hear often, but what really stands behind them? How have sanctions shaped Russia’s economy during the war in Ukraine, and what has worked, what has not, and what comes next?

Where have they been effective, where have they fallen short, and what challenges remain in enforcement and coordination in practice?

The lecture by Yuliia Pavytska, Head of the Sanctions Hub of Excellence at the KSE Institute (Kyiv School of Economics), is open to everyone interested in the topic as part of our Geopolitics Unscripted series.

At SSE Riga this month, students are defending Bachelor Thesis 👏

Research topics range from real estate markets, pension sustainability, and electricity price volatility to stablecoin risks, coffee roasting emissions in Riga, healthcare access, sanctions, and private credit.

Some thesis titles sound like future policy papers. Others sound like startup ideas. A few could be Netflix documentaries.

Just a few examples:
- Why Latvia couldn’t keep Rail Baltica on track
- Predicting high-risk meme-coin traders
- Thinking with AI: how generative tools are changing student learning
- Are Gen Z really the “worst” employees?
- Does “skinimalism” sell?

Congrats to all students, faculty, and staff! This is a bittersweet moment as we move closer to the graduation of the Class of 2026 🎓

Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA Group 5 of the in InnovationManagement is approaching the finish line 🎯 As one insight captured it best: “Strategy without ex*****on is a dream; ex*****on without strategy is a nightmare. Launch fast, learn, and iterate.”

With this programme our faculty have provided concrete steps on how to move a business forward. Fingers crossed that this knowledge is translated into actions and helps company growth.

Final call for applications to the Bachelor programme 📣 Applications close on April 8, 23:59:59 (Eastern European Time) https://www.sseriga.edu/education/bachelor/admission

The BSc programme in Economics and Business has been developed very deliberately, not by chasing trends but by thinking ahead. Its curriculum foundations remain strong 👉 economics, finance, statistics, and the ability to think, analyze, communicate, and spot opportunities creatively. Tools evolve and today artificial intelligence is embedded across the entire learning experience at SSE Riga, reflecting what the future demands.

The programme also expands into behavioral sciences and international politics, helping students understand not just numbers but people and societies. Business ethics and sustainability are key cornerstones and are taught as essential aspects of the programme. Learn more about the programme here: https://www.sseriga.edu/education/bachelor/curriculum

At SSE Riga, the focus is not on training for a single job, but on preparing students for broad careers and future leadership.

SSE Riga had the honour of welcoming Moldova's President, Her Excellency Ms Maia Sandu.

During her official visit to Latvia, President Sandu delivered a talk at SSE Riga on April 1 titled “Moldova’s Reforms and Resilience on the EU Path.” Latvia and Moldova share close ties and a strong commitment to cooperation, including support for EU integration and collaboration across economics, law, IT, and cybersecurity.

SSE Riga contributes to this cooperation through educational initiatives and works with partners in Moldova to strengthen education and leadership development in support of EU integration, including new executive-level programmes and research projects. We are also proud of our students and graduates from Moldova.

Rector Anders Paalzow: “We thank President Maia Sandu for this inspiring visit. The President sent a strong message on Moldova's firm commitment to join the EU as well as on the country's remarkable reform progress in key sectors such as the rule of law and the economy. SSE Riga's cooperation with Moldova is long-standing and growing. More than 55 Moldovan students have graduated from SSE Riga, many of whom have returned home to contribute to Moldova’s development.”
