Baltic Analog Lab Artists and filmmakers collective, education centre We are artists collective from Riga, Latvia interested in analog image making - both still and moving.

We are working with film, teaching it as well as showing it to a broader audiences. We are also organising experimental film and expanded cinema events in Latvia.

Meet our artist-in-residence Adomas Palekas from Lithuania!

Adomas: I work with environmentally entangled sound practices with a focus via primitive sound technologies (analog circuits, tape recorders). Here at BAL, together with Julita Venslovaitė i’m experimenting with microbial transmutations of recording media - magnetic tape and celluloid film.

Meet our artist-in-residence Sofija Zaiceva from Latvia!
Sofija: My main practice is creative sound coding, based, but not limited, to the SuperCollider environment. I explore digital obsession through using alternative instruments - augmented and obsolete devices such as iPhones, deprecated apps, leftover memos and digital imprints. I approach all my devices and mainly my laptop as co-performers, creating algorithms that challenge me to improvise and react.
