Falling Walls Lab Riga, Latvia 2026 brought together researchers and innovators from Peru, France, the United States, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Latvia, and Estonia, representing universities and research institutions across all three Baltic countries. Their ideas spanned a wide range of disciplines, demonstrating scientific excellence. 🤩

Thank you to every one of the 12 participants for sharing your research, your passion, and your vision for breaking down the next walls in science and society. It was a pleasure to have you on the Falling Walls Lab Riga stage. 🫶🏻

Congratulations to Jaana Merisaar, the winner of Falling Walls Lab Riga, Latvia 2026!

With her outstanding three-minute pitch "Breaking the Wall of Uncertainty in Circular Construction", Jaana impressed our international jury and will go on to represent Latvia at the global Falling Walls Lab final in Berlin this November. 🤩

We would also like to congratulate our runners-up:
🥈 2nd place: Vanda Voikiva - "Breaking the Wall of Keratin-Based Waste"
🥉 3rd place: Jachin Edward Pousson - "Breaking the Wall of Inflexible Neurotech"

Meet the Jury of Falling Walls Lab Riga, Latvia: Pitching competition! 🤩

Today, our participants will take the stage to present their breakthrough ideas in just 3 minutes. Evaluating their pitches will be an outstanding international jury from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland.

🔹 Ramunė Kasperė – Professor and Vice-Dean for Research, Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania
🔹 Mateusz Szatkowski – Assistant Professor, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, Poland
🔹 Māris Būmanis – Executive Board Member, Latvijas Finieris Group
🔹 Keiu Virro – Junior Researcher, Tallinn University

Their expertise and thoughtful evaluation will help determine who will represent Latvia at the global Falling Walls Lab final in Berlin.
