Applications are open for the traditional study trip to Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy, taking place 28 October – 2 November 2026.
12 spots are available.
The deadline to apply is September 14th, 9:00!

To apply, please submit:
Motivation letter — max. 450 words
Portfolio — 5–8 works (sketches, drawings, paintings, graphics, photographs or other visual/artistic work) + include cover page with your name and study year
Portfolio: A4 PDF format

Important information
Accommodation is included for selected participants.
Travel expenses (flights, local transport, etc.) are covered individually.
RISEBA financial support: EUR 100 may be available once per study year. Please mention in your application email if you would like to apply.

Participants will tackle the unique challenges of these diverse localities. In Riga, proposals will focus on the Daugava riverfront, integrating historic Baltic identity with modern ecological corridors to counter seasonal freezing while reconnecting the urban core to the water. In Amaravati, under the pressures of rapid urbanization and extreme monsoon dynamics along the Krishna River, strategies will integrate sustainable civic infrastructure, heat-mitigating cial, and spatial—where climate adaptation, economic vitality, and public accessibility coexist. Participants will develop innovative proposals that demonstrate rapid iteration, collaboration across time zones, and global-local thinking are no longer optional—they are the future of architectural practice.

Across all sites the waterfront will be redefined as an active, permeable ecological system.

The core actions will be clear: ADAPT, RECONNECT, SUSTAIN.

Sharing a few pictures of this FestivaL’and 7.0, a summer school of architecture and spatial design! 📸🪚🔨

The event took place in Valmiera from July 15 to 25.
The summer school is organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture of the Art Academy of Latvia (Latvijas Mākslas akadēmija) in cooperation with the Valmiera Gauja Coast Secondary School-Development Center (Valmieras Gaujas krasta vidusskola), and the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the RISEBA University of Applied Sciences.

This year, an international group of 15 students participated, from Germany, Austria, Finland, Vietnam, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Belgium, France, Spain, as well as from Latvia.

The summer school was led by experienced and professional mentors such as; Mariella Gentile and Davide Tagliabue from Italy, and Agris Tauriņš from Latvia.

This year, the summer school is organized in collaboration with the Valmiera Gauja Coast Secondary School-Development Center. During it, ideas are being developed for a multifunctional pavilion-outdoor classroom, which students will build in the area adjacent to the school with the help of mentors and a professional carpenter-carpenter.

The summer school is financially supported by the State Education Development Agency, Valmiera Regional Government and the State Culture Capital Fund. (Valsts izglītības attīstības aģentūra, Valmieras novada pašvaldība un Valsts Kultūrkapitāla fonds).

“Past Forward: Industriālā mantojuma nākotne”
un izcīni 1000 eiro stipendiju!
No 1. līdz 3. jūlijam Andrejsalā norisināsies trīs dienu arhitektūras
darbnīca arhitektūras, dizaina un būvniecības jomu studentiem.
Darbnīca “Past Forward: Industriālā mantojuma nākotne” aicina studentus gūt jaunas zināšanas un paplašināt savu pieredzi par industriālā kultūras mantojuma integrēšanu mūsdienu pilsētvidē un piedāvāt savu redzējumu par konkrētu industriālo ēku un objektu transformēšanu jaunā Andrejsalas un Andrejostas teritorijas vīzijā.

Studentiem būs iespēja līdzdarboties ar nozares profesionāļiem
arhitektiem Reini Liepiņu (arhitektu birojs Sudraba Arhitektūra), Frici Vilni (arhitektu birojs Vilnis Miculis Architects), Dagniju Smilgu (arhitektūras un pilsētplānošanas studija urbanlab), kā arī citiem Riga Waterfront projektā iesaistītajiem starptautiskajiem arhitektiem un pilsētplānotājiem.
Darbnīcas norisi vadīs Dina Suhanova, arhitekte, Latvijas Mākslas
akadēmijas Laikmetīgās mākslas, dizaina un arhitektūras institūta
pētniece un projektu vadītāja.
Noslēgumā komandas prezentēs savus konceptus žūrijai, piedalīsies
diskusijā ar ekspertiem, un labākās komandas dalībnieki iegūs vienreizēju 1000 EUR stipendiju katrs.

Darbnīcas norises formāts
Trīs dienu programma Andrejsalas un Andrejostas teritorijā Rīgā apvienos vietējo un starptautisko ekspertu lekcijas un pieredzes apmaiņu ar radošu un praktisku darbu komandās. Darbnīca noslēgsies ar izstrādāto priekšlikumu prezentāciju žūrijai. Katru komandu vadīs mentors, palīdzot dalībniekiem attīstīt idejas no sākotnējās izpētes līdz arhitektūras vai pilsētvides konceptam.

● 1. un 2. jūlijā (plkst. 9.30–18.00) norisināsies vieslektoru
uzstāšanās, objektu apskate un komandu darbs pie konkrētu ēku un industriālā mantojuma objektu transformācijas idejām, skiču
izstrāde.

● 3. jūlijā (plkst. 9.30–15.00) notiks komandu darba prezentācijas
žūrijai, noskaidrojot stipendiju konkursa uzvarētājus, kā arī
noslēdzot dienu ar kokteiļu arhitektūras meistarklasi.
Kas var piedalīties?

“Past Forward” darbnīcai aicināti pieteikties studenti no Latvijas
augstskolām, kurās apgūst arhitektūras, būvniecības, dizaina, vides
mākslas, ainavu arhitektūras un ilgtspējīgas būvniecības jomas. Vietu skaits ierobežots.

Latvijas Arhitektu savienība informē:

"Aicinām apmeklēt lekciju cikla “Transformācija” atklāšanu 18. jūnijā. Arhitektūras un kritiskās telpiskās prakses platforma “Transformācija” pievēršas pārmaiņu procesiem, pētot, kā mainās arhitekta loma, telpa un tās veidošanas metodes mūsdienu nepastāvīgajā vidē.
Kā pirmo no lektoriem būs iespēja dzirdēt “SZK un Partneri” līdzdibinātāju, arhitektu Andi Sīli. Aicinām ierasties laicīgi.
Lekcijas ietvaros tiks apskatīta laikmeta paradigmas maiņa, analizēta transformācijas ontoloģija, mainīgais vs stabilais arhitektūras pārvērtību procesos. Uzmanība tiks pievērsta ģeneratīvā MI ietekmei uz risinājumu producēšanas un lēmumu pieņemšanas metodēm, formāliem un konceptuāliem arhitektūras jautājumiem, jaunāko būvniecības un projektēšanas tehnoloģiju piedāvātajām iespējām. Tiks domāts par algoritmu un arhitekta / autora potenciālajām atšķirībām un / vai saplūšanu, jaunām iespējām, profesijas nākotni, beigām vai jaunu sākumu.

“How and what can we afford to build in times of climate crisis and geopolitical instability? How can we rethink environmental design processes to make meaningful use of the resources already available to us?

We invite you to join the launch event of the Build–Not–Build initiative by Brigita Bula Architects on 16 June at 16:00 at the Architects’ House in Riga, Torņa iela 11.

During the event, we will introduce the Build–Not–Build manifesto and action plan, hear from Danish and Latvian colleagues about their experiences, and examine the initiative in the context of the . We will also invite attendees to join a discussion on alternative building practices.”
