What happens when an entire primary school trades classrooms for the forest? A day filled with adventure, creativity, and unforgettable learning.
From building forts and sharing stories to exploring nature together, our students spent the day discovering that some of the best lessons happen beyond four walls. While our youngest learners regularly experience the benefits of forest learning, this special day brought our entire Primary School community together outdoors.
Itโs just one of the many ways we make learning meaningful, memorable, and uniquely ours.

One chapter ends, and another begins. โจ
We celebrate our Grade 5 students as they graduate from the Primary Campus. From the classrooms and playgrounds where they learned, grew, and built lasting friendships, they now take their next step toward new opportunities and new challenges.
While many will continue their journey with us next year at the Secondary Campus, others will begin new adventures at different schools and in different parts of the world. Wherever their paths may lead, they carry with them the experiences, friendships, and values that have shaped them along the way.
Congratulations, Grade 5 - weโre so proud of you!

What a fun time at ISR Sports Day at our Primary School Campus, bringing energy, and community spirit to life.
As part of the day, we also organized the Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Fund Run in support of the Pink Train Foundation, Latviaโs leading breast cancer support organization.
The entire campus came together for a meaningful cause-raising awareness, showing solidarity, and taking action as one community. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and helped make a difference! ๐

Class of 2026, we are so proud of each and every one of you. ๐
As ISR Director Dr. Amanda Romey reminded us in her speech, the happiest people are not those with the highest status or the biggest bank accounts, but those surrounded by love. Along the way, your achievements will matter, but itโs how you make others feel that will truly stay with them.
Carry that with you, choose kindness, and create a life filled with meaning.
Congratulations, Class of 2026, you did it!

Our faculty members joined educators from around the world at the Early Childhood Education Summit โ26 in Vilnius.
The central question: Guided play or play guided?
What they brought back confirms what we believe and practice every day in our Early Years programme for children aged 1.5 to 6 years old.

Research shared at the summit highlighted something powerful:
Play is how children build

At our Early Years Programme, play is the primary vehicle for inquiry. This means:
โจ Children are encouraged to ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐, ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ข๐ง๐, ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐

Another important takeaway from the summit: Fragmented screen content can lead to fragmented focus.
Thatโs why in Early Years, we prioritize real-world play, interaction, and discovery โ giving children the strong cognitive and emotional foundations they need.
Itโs a partnership.
A child leads with curiosity.
An adult supports with intention.
Not too much direction. Not too little.
Just enough to challenge, inspire, and nurture growth.
At the International School of Riga, our Early Years programme is designed to ignite a love of learning through play โ because when children play, they are not just having fun, they are building the skills they will carry for life.
We are currently welcoming children to join our Early Years programme for the upcoming academic year. ๐
