Riga Technical University (RTU) and Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) have been included in the prestigious international ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021, released last week.

Architecture, Engineering and Medicine
Riga Technical University (RTU) has improved its position and ranked among 201-220 best universities in architecture, as well as experienced an increase in engineering and technology, reaching the range of 401–450 best universities in the world. RTU has demonstrated the best results in Latvia. More about RTU results here.

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) is included in the top of the world's best universities in the field of medicine for the first time, ranking in the 501-550 position in this subject. Until now, none of Latvia's higher education institutions has entered this prestigious ranking in the field of medicine. RSU has the highest results in two categories: the number of citations and the reputation of employers.

Five subject areas
The performance of higher education institutions is evaluated in five subject areas – engineering and technology, arts and humanities, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, as well as social sciences and management.

The universities are assessed taking into consideration the Academic reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper and Hirsch index. The assessment of Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation is based on extensive international surveys, citations are measured by the average number of publications that reveal the impact and quality of university research, while the Hirsch index assesses the most cited publications and citation indicators of other publications, thus analysing the productivity and impact of university scientists.

Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) share the most number-one positions with 12 each. 13 subject tables are topped by a UK university, with the University of Oxford accounting for nearly half of those (five). A total of 1440 world universities have been evaluated in various subject areas.

👛 The amount of the scholarship for studies is 50𝟬 𝗘𝗨𝗥 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 for Bachelor’s and Master’s students and 𝟲𝟳𝟬 𝗘𝗨𝗥 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 for PhD students. The scholarship is awarded for up to 10 months for Bachelor’s and Master’s students and for up to 11 months for PhD students.
👛 The amount of the scholarship for research is 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗘𝗨𝗥 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 for accommodation and 𝟯𝟬 𝗘𝗨𝗥 𝗮𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. The awarded time period of the scholarships for research is from 14 days up to 5 months.
❗️ 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱. It should be noted that:
◾️ Latvian state scholarships do not fully cover all the expenses related to the studies, for example, tuition fee, travel expenses from a home country to and from Latvia and other expenses.
◾️ Latvian state scholarships are available for students from more than 40 eligible countries.

Latvian language in the union! 🇱🇻
Useful information about Latvian language learning opportunities for third-country citizens.

📚 The Society ′′ Innovation Support Center ′′ has started the implementation of a new project ′′ Latvian with pleasure-2 The project is intended to involve 240 people, third-country citizens who will be able to learn Latvian for free in the amount of 120 academic hours, and 50 % of them will be able to arrange a test of state language skills at the State Education Content Center (VISC) for free.

✏ Latvian language learning courses are for three levels - basic (A), average (B), and higher (C). All four Latvian language skills will be developed at every level - listening, reading, writing and speaking. The training will be suitable for people of various old age groups to not only learn Latvian in an interactive way, but also prepare third-country citizens for professional needs, permanent residence permits - gain one of the state language skills and competitive in the labor market.
