SUMMER PROGRAMM IN THE USA

ASV vēstniecība Rīgā aicina Latvijas izglītības iestāžu audzēkņus vecumā no 16 līdz 18 gadiem piedalīties Bendžamina Franklina programmas vasaras institūtā. T
ā ir četru nedēļu gara intensīva apmaiņas programma, kas ir radīta, lai stiprinātu Eiropas un ASV jauniešu saikni un kopīgās vērtības.

Programmas ietvaros dalībnieki uzzinās par ASV jauniešu iesaisti sabiedrības dzīvē, kā arī par atbalstu, ko ASV sniedz demokrātijas, pilsoniskas sabiedrības un ekonomikas attīstības veicināšanai.

Pieteikšanās:

Pretendenti aicināti aizpildīt anketu un izveidot video (līdz divām minūtēm) angļu valodā, kurā pretendents skaidro savu motivāciju piedalīties programmā un idejas par turpmākajām aktivitātēm pēc atgriešanās Latvijā.
Pretendentiem ir jāpublicē video jebkurā uzticamā un pieejamā tiešsaistes platformā un jānorāda saite pieteikuma veidlapā. ASV vēstniecības vērtēšanas komisija atlasīs finālistus, kuri tiks uzaicināti uz virtuālu interviju ar vēstniecības pārstāvjiem, un iesniegs savus CV un ieteikumu vēstules.
Konkursa uzvarētājs piedalīsies četru nedēļu programmā no 2024. gada 22. jūnija līdz 20. jūlijam.

Every Wednesday at 17:30 at the JFK Reading Room, located on the 3rd floor of the Latvian National Library, two American Fulbright scholars will present English discussion and activity exercises to all interested attendees.

The first session, “Media Through Culture” will take place this Wednesday, the 22nd of February.

RYLS Gala Conference took place on the 27th of August, in Park Inn by Radisson Valdemara hotel. Many of our participants are not from Riga, so we started our day with a small walking tour through the Old Town.
On our arrival to the Conference Hall, we started our meeting with British Council Active Citizens Leadership activities to build trust and develop skills and values for dialogue and networking. Then we continued with the presentations of our fantastic guest-speakers. Our first guest was Iris Willey, cultural attache from the USA Embassy in Riga. Ms Willey was speaking about the USA Embassy activities in Latvia and shared a valuable information about grants and programs available for Latvian students in the USA. Our second speaker was Patricija Anna Vavilova. Patricija (22) works at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and she is a brilliant motivational speaker for young people. She encouraged the audience to look at things from a different perspective, and motivated them to take positive action in their lives.
We were also very excited to hear the presentation from RYLS 2021 alumna and RYLS 2022 Mentor Baiba Lucijanova. Last year Baiba participated in the Future Leaders Exchange Program in the USA. So Baiba kindly shared with us her experiences of participation in the FLEX program and told us about her life in America.
Next part of the event was dedicated to the Community projects presentations, where RYLS 2022 participants absolutely impressed the audience by their fantastic presentations and innovative ideas. Our participants worked hard for the last month on their own group projects, developing ideas on what they can do to make their own communities a better place to live.
We were also honored to listen to Liva Eglite breath-taking flute performance, Marta Brakanska read her own amazing and motivational poem, and young ballerina Milana Smirnova gave us all a fantastic masterclass! (we are extremely proud of being able to work together with such talented young people).
The event finished with a touching graduation ceremony. We watched a short video where participants looked back at their eight weeks experience at RYLS and shared their feedbacks and emotions about the time we spent together. Finally, diplomas were issued to our participants and mentors. What an unforgettable day it was!
