Jau trešo gadu Preiļos notiks Preiļu Robotikas Čempionāts, kas ir 12. Latvijas Robotikas Čempionāta posms. Skolu jaunieši, amatieri un arī profesionāļi varēs piedalīties vairākās disciplīnās - Mini Sumo, Lego Sumo, iRobot Sumo, Lego Līnijsekošana, Līnijsekošana (brīvā konstrukcija), Lego Folkrace, Folkrace (brīvā konstrukcija), Freestyle, VEX un šogad arī dronu sacensības.

Mūsu komandai šī bija lieliska diena - tikāmies ar aizrautīgiem robotu būvētājiem no RTU Inženeirzinātņu vidusskolas, demonstrējām robotu Sumo veiklību Latvijas un Japānas Ministru prezidentu kundzēm.

Esam parakstījuši sadarbības līgumu ar Rīgas Domi par projekta "Atspēriens" realizāciju. Turpmākajos 12 mēnešos esam apņēmušies izstrādāt vizuālas programmēšanas vidi mūsu robotiem. Tādejādi SumoBoy jaunākajiem lietotājiem padarīsim programmēšanu jautrāku un interesantāku.

Once we have ensured that robot has the best grip we have to use the best motor so that no grip is wasted. And we have found the perfect motors for SumoBoy.
There is a handful amount of motors that fit size limitations of mini-sumo robot. The most popular is Sony micro metal gear motors. They offer a vast choice when it comes to speed and power ratio. Depending of ratio motors can be either more powerful or faster. Which means opposite is true as well. For example robot with 100:1 ratio motors will be slower but more powerful while 30:1 will be faster but weaker. We have chosen 50:1 ratio micro metal gearmotors, because they give the best power-speed combination.
In SumoBoy we have used custom micro metal gear motors rating at 0.196 Nm stall torque at 8 V supply. To compare Sony HP micro metal gear motors showed 0.1226 Nm, almost two times less in the same size motor.
