Finally we managed to watch the museum documentary HET NIEUWE RIJKSMUSEUM. A very interesting documentary showing the whole process of the 10 years of renewal. Already this process orientated reflection makes it valuable and important. We were slightly worried by the fact that it seems that there are hardly women working in important positions and that the rivalry between some of the protagonists is intriguing, especially since there have been some changes in management lately. In our opinion the documentary is rather superficial when it comes to important museological issues. We missed a reflection on the role of education and what stroke us the most is the complete missing reflection on the discourse between art history and history, since that had been a thing for ages, or at least we felt that it had been a thing....Was that not a huge thing in the professional and public debate? Anyhow, we had fun watching it!
